I think in conjuncture with my Jukebox Memoirs project I'm going to start doing a series of short, simple entries on music that pose a fun or interesting set of questions. Answers to said questions can be as short or as detailed as you'd like

The first is Missy Higgins' "Going North." This could have been my theme song for the past several years actually...but the song was on an album that was released in 2007. The funny part of it is that I wrote a song that very much resembles the concept of this song and it is called "North." I wrote my song back in early 2004 and I guess after this song came out, it was kind of like getting the same from my song without having to listen to myself. If that makes ANY sort of sense. The concept is so similar to me and I guess that's why I have such a strong connection with the song.

I guess for me it's mostly about living my life and being unafraid to explore who I am and where I want to go. It is very much how I have lived my life since graduating college...or at least how I strive to live my life when other things doing clash with those ideals.
The other song is my theme song for when my ideals kind of get smashed to the ground due to things beyond my control. One of my fellow "sickies" sent this to me not that long ago (sometime earlier this year) and I guess it just fits without being a super sad, depressing song. It is Tokyo Police Club's "Favourite Food." When you're sick a lot, you can choose to either be sad about it constantly or you can adapt..and I guess words like "let the hospital be your home" make me feel like I'm choosing to adapt instead of being in denial or being resistant constantly. As much as I don't want it to be a theme song, it definitely is!
