Now... with the August show put to bed and the days on the calendar passing by unbelievably fast I find myself thinking ahead to September. I've got two ideas for the show and I want to throw them out there and find out what you think.
1. "School Days" - With it being a show for September I thought a show full of songs that either speak of school days or address young life -- in the literal sense -- and/or submitted songs from you that, for whatever reason, you associate with your own "school days". On the latter front, I think there is some good potential because the folks who tend to contribute song ideas have school days that range from the 70's to the 90's to the early part of the current century. This could be a fun show, I think... sort of like you and I collaborating on a 'soundtrack' to our own John Hughes movie. :)
2. "Hidden In Plain View" - I've toyed with this one before and the concept is this: Suggest really great but lesser-known or, in some cases, really rare songs (b-sides, unreleased tracks, etc) from established and well-known bands and artists. For example, everyone knows the big hit singles or popular songs from your REM's, Springsteens, Coldplays, and on and on, but even the biggest of names have really great album tracks, b-sides, or a song that landed on an obscure soundtrack album, etc. * Note: Going with this concept might require not only your suggestions for songs but me needed to getting an MP3 of said song from you (e-mail or Sendspace is really easy).
So those are the two ideas. I'll go with whichever show attracts the most voters or comments and put the other one on the back burner.
Muchos gracias, amigos.
