Now I've just got to work out if I do the professional hairdresser thing, which is usually red highlights over brown, or do the 'whole head' thing which is more solid colour, less highlights.
Hrm, if it was me I'd do the hairdresser thing as the one time I tried to dye my hair red did not end well. I guess it depends on what colour red and how happy you are doing it yourself. Cost is also a factor as hairdressers are fracking expensive.
I've been debating whether to go darker this winter myself, either a red or a mahogany, which I sis in the US once and it looked really quite good. We'll see.
All of my red colours so far have been done at home. I've never actually done a hairdressing version of total red, although I wouldn't do a home version of the blonde highlights that I currently have.
The thing with hairdressers is that they always seem to try to talk me out of just going red, and to do subtle blonde and red highlights instead. While it may actually suit me better, it seems a bit too subtle.
I'd be curious to see how you'd look as mahogany. I think that it would look fabulous, although you're natural colour is also great.
I figure if you're going to dye your hair, you may as well make it noticable, whatever your definition of that is (I'm figuring not hot pink or electric blue for you though)
If I get a decent enough tax return I may just do it, that's the thing with not trusting myself to do it, too gosh darned expensive. And the hairdresser I have currently keeps telling me I'm one of the only natural blonde's out there, so why would I want to change the colour? :) It is a pretty good colour though (points to icon, that's still all natural, just under studio lights)
I've only ever gone with the hairdresser once and everyone commented on how artificial its looked. I do it at home all the time and most comments I receive are words to the effect of 'You dye your hair?'. Though I do admit that I use less than the recommended amount of two packets for my long hair. Comes out a gentler hue as a result. But thats just me. Go with what you feel most comfortable with.
I dye my own hair at home, and I like how it turns out. I get roots far too quickly, but that just means that my hair's still growing :) wai! Hopefully I'll be able to sit on it by Summer :)
Go a nice red :) Red is good :) Having red hair makes me so happy :)
