Luna Fortuna Yankee

Luna Fortuna Yankee passed away at around 8:30 am this morning. Luna was a nine year old Bombay kitty. Her fur was all black but she was not bad luck. She would often follow her friend Starphoenix93 around the house, sit in his lap, or curl up beside him in the middle of the night. Where Starphoenix93 went, Luna went to.

Luna was a magickal cat and wonderful friend. She takes a part of Starphoenix93's soul with her to the Rainbow Bridge.

According to legend, Luna was born on Halloween - October 31, 2000. Starphoenix93 found her at a shelter called "Orphans of the Storm". He stuck his finger into the cage with the tiny little black kitten and she bit his finger playfully. He knew then that this was his Luna - the cat he was meant to be with. She was named immediately and taken home. She lived for most of her life in the neighborhoods of Rogers Park and Edgewater. When she was a newborn kitten, she used to bite Starphoenix93's feet at night. He had to wear socks to bed to avoid having his toes eaten.

She had a dear friend and sister in an orange tabby named Pumpkin. Pumpkin and Luna would curl up beside each other. They played, licked, bit, fought, and loved each other very much. When Pumpkin passed away suddenly, Luna became very sad and never fully recovered.

Luna's hobbies were playing the piano, laying in windows, sitting on Starphoenix93s lap, and eating Fancy Fease and Friskies. She was an initiate of the Ordo Templi Catientis. Her degree in that esteemed order is unknown.

Luna is survived by her daddy - Starphoenix93, her meowmmy Thelemalove93, and her beloved daughter Maya.

It is almost certain that when Luna passed from our world this morning, a flash of Orange appeared before her eyes and an orange Tabby named Pumpkin came to guide her to that place known only as the Rainbow Bridge.

The Rainbow Bridge poem for Luna:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her little paws carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your moon kitty, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
