Writing is a messy endeavor.
Figuratively and literally.
My couch, end table, dining table, living room floor and desk are littered with articles and books. My computer screen is littered with documents, all for the same project, all at one or another stage of undoneness. My mind is littered with ideas and plans that are still quickening.
And yet I still have faith that this disorderly collection of ideas and words will coalesce into something coherent and unified.
I wish I could convey this knowledge/commitment/faith to my students.
P.S. I think I enjoy this process more now then I ever did when I was an undergrad when it was 97% anxiety and 3% pleasure. Now it is something like 75% anxiety and 25% pleasure.
