...It's been a pretty busy summer, so far.
What's taking up a decent portion of it is that I've started going to a gym. A few months back, a friend and I were bemoaning the fact that there's not much for us to do in way of exercise, since our twice weekly street hockey went belly up.
I suggested a gym...and he jumped all over it. So now, on Tues and Thurs after work, I bus up to his neck of the woods, and we hit the gym for an hour or so. It really is much easier with a friend. After we do our thing in the gym, I tend to go back to his place and hang out for a few hours, then he gives me a lift home. It's working out pretty well so far.
One thing that amused me...is that the male:female ratio at this gym, during the times I've been there, is pretty much 10:1. Also, I thought that the musclehead cliche was just that, a cliche made up and exaggerated for TV. Nope. There's a guy at the gym who grunts loudly with every single lift, drops the weights on the floor from a height, struts around the gym after every set, and is constantly looking at himself in the mirrors. Once, when I was using the pull-down machine, he strutted by after a set, looked at himself in the mirror, smirked, lifted up his shirt, checking out his abs, and then continued his strut. I almost had to have E take the weight from me I almost lost if trying not to laugh.
Other things proceed apace. This is an emotionally...interesting summer. But I'm learning a lot about myself and Meg through it.
I'm also playing more SC2. Not quite brave enough to play online yet, I can beat a 'medium' difficulty computer opponent, and give a 'hard' one a good fight (and win occasionally).
