Running off with Rufus
I have not gone a night this week without listening to Nellie McKay before bed. She has definitely passed the "really good artist test," now I should give her a rest because her new cd is coming out sometime in December (complete with a duet with Cyndi Lauper, holy rapture). Fantastic.
Today was a very typical sunday. My car, Jitterbug, is being a testy teenager and has decided to give me all sorts of grief. I can't handle it at all. I'm two seconds away from telling him that he's adopted. Finicky bastard.
I discovered Regina Spektor tonight. She is lovely. I am 92% sure that she is opening for Rufus when Anna and I see him Nov. 4th, and am even more excited now that I know of her.
I keep having daydreams that I am going to be able to sneak backstage to meet Rufus, and he will suddenly realize, after some cute and witty banter, that I am exactly what he needs in his life right now. Of course I am ready and willing, so I totally join him on tour. I think I'll just do sound check or something to help him out. Oh! Maybe I'll be in charge of arranging the flowers in his dressing room or the food table display...I'd be really good at that.........really good. Of course I'd feel really guilty about leaving Anna with Courtney and Melissa for the ride back, but I think that Anna would eventually be really happy for me and understand that it's exactly the right thing for me. Thanks Anna! Oh, and Florence. I'd feel awful about leaving our house together, but she has Brian anyway so it's not like she'll have to pay my share of the rent. Plus, this way Brian has a more permanent place to stay and Florence has her room to her self. Rockin'! It all works. Plus, Florence and Anna already like Rufus anyway, so it's not like I'm running of with some bad-ass guy. It's just Rufus Wainwright.
