hmm...

hmm.. I started _Speaker For The Dead_ Yesterday when it arrived... I took a break here and there.. three hours for my alloted cmputer time.. and finished the morning at 7 am... yes, I stayed up all night, er.. morning.

The way Card writes is so.. jsut wow... but it's also so sad.. to see Novinha lose so many so dear to her, and to see Ender leave his beloved sister.. it bcaused my heart to hurt so greatly ><

It is a truly amazing story, Ender's story, and everything about this series, but it's so sad.. even if it is sci-fi, it has that hint of reality, and humanity in it and you connect with it..

but it made me wonder... do I have any attachments the way that these characters did? if so.. would it not be easier to jsut cast these people aside and live alone without others? wouldn't it hurt less?

It makes me wonder if I should want to fall in love ever, or make friends should we move and when I do move.. should I want to grow attached to people that I will unevitably lose one day? Is all teh happiness that will be brought to me worth all the pain and sorrow that it's ending shall leave?

My heart, my chest, it aches right now.. I have to push it aside and not think of all the people whose lives were taken in these books becuase it hurts each and every second I do.. but I can't help but want to think about them.. to know that this is real and that it can happen... not the buggers or the piggies.. rather the pain, the heartache, the love and compassion..

well.. that's my rant.. started Xenocide today and tehn Children of the mind will be after that.. then I must visit Amazon.com again for the next boxset with Bean's story..

Ciao for now.

Human: Why don't any of the other humans ever come see us?
Miro:We're the only ones allowed to come through the gate.
Human: Why don't they just climb over the fence?
Miro: Haven't any of you ever touched the fence? (Human does not answer.) It's very painful to touch the fence. To pass over the fence would be like every part of your body hurting as bad as possible, all at once.
Human: That's stupid. Isn't there grass on both sides?
