Rating recent anime
I've started watching a lot of shows lately, but with a lot of them I just said "This is what it's about!" and not much more. So, partially for myself and partially for others to have reference, I present to you:

Suisei no Gargantia
What was this about again? my entry on it (Note: this was before I started the 'snapshot' style so there are fewer pics + probably more spoilers)
I've watched through episode: 8
Rating so far (out of 10): 9
Thoughts: The series is very pretty and it deals very well with cultural differences, child soldiers, and the concept of war/how the soldier mentality doesn't leave when a person does. Plus, omfg do I love Ledo <3
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru / My Teenage RomCom SNAFU
What was this about again? my entry about it
I've watched through episode: 8
Rating so far (out of 10): 9
Thoughts: I LOVE this anime. I love how maladjusted the main characters are in differing ways, and how it doesn't really make a judgment call on the way they are per se, or at least it shows why they are how they are. Bonus points: you could totally slash or femmeslash some characters based on the way some of the characters interact.
Valvrave the Liberator

I've watched through episode: 7 (I think 8 JUST came out today)
Rating so far (out of 10): 7 to 7.5
Thoughts: Has an interesting concept, pretty animation, they're pretty realistic about high school kids slacking off, and I'm intrigued by two of the main characters. Some parts feel a bit forced to me (mostly just in the first episode or two) but it's been getting better as it goes.
Shingeki no Kyojin

I've watched through episode: 8
Rating so far (out of 10): 7 to 7.5
Thoughts: The anime felt weirdly forced to me in the first 3 episodes but once episode 4 hit, I was suddenly engrossed and couldn't stop watching, and then tracked down the manga to read everything available to date. The concept is interesting, and I LOVE Armin and Rivaille (also known as Levi somehow?). This series does a good job of having women be bad ass just because, and not making that be somehow related to whether or not they like someone.
Karneval

Rating so far (out of 10): 6
Thoughts: Gorgeous animation and I'm curious about the world it's set in. I like several main characters pretty well. But the plot is all over the place and the episodes feel weirdly slow and drawn out, like they're trying to stretch every second the same way they do in bad filler arcs in series. It's incongruous and takes away a lot of my enjoyment of the story. Also, some of the characters are starting to bug me (I hate to say). But I have hope for the future :)

Thoughts: Interesting concept and the characters aren't bad but I'm really thrown by the loli aspect
Psycho-Pass

I've watched through episode: 7 (out of 22)
Rating so far (out of 10): 5
Thoughts: Interesting concept but I just don't connect with any of the characters. I'm hoping it will change and I think there's a possibility it will. There's some really cool technology in this show.
Aku no Hana

Thoughts: I need to watch more of this before I rate it. I'm curious/intrigued by the first episode. One thing I'll say is if, for the animation of the people in this anime, they DIDN'T record real life people acting this all out and animate scenes based on their movements/facial expressions then I'll be extremely impressed because the mannerisms seem so realistic, more than about any anime I ever remember seeing.

Thoughts: I need to watch more of this before I rate it. I plan to get caught up.
There are some other shows I've watched recently, like Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica and K, but those are older shows that I already finished watching entirely so I'm not including them in the above. Psycho-Pass got a pass (ba-dum-CHISH) despite being older because I haven't finished watching it yet.
