:(( I really hope I'm wrong, but the more I think about it, the more I think it's the case.
Reasons why I think he is, in no particular order:
**It's not even a question in anyone's mind in series that he might be, which makes me think he is **Charlie mentioned a few times how some of his military buddies are also working for Joe **Charlie and Mike look to be about the same age and both have military affiliations (Mike says he's a military brat) **Every good story has a betrayal, and that's the sort of thing Joe would want. Mike would be a great betrayal for Ryan. **Mike was the only one who cared about Ryan or knew anything about him at the beginning, making me think he's the version of Ryan's Follower like Charlie was for Claire **Mike ingratiated himself immediately to Ryan, or is at least trying, so he's in the perfect position to feed intel on Ryan back to Joe **When Joe and Mike came face to face in the cell in episode 7, there was a short pause which could have been "What are YOU doing here?" as easily as "Who the hell are you?" before Joe said, "I don't believe we've had the pleasure" which would just be the smart thing to say to not out your right hand man for his cover **If Joe is making this all about Ryan, what better place for his right hand man to be than to be Ryan's right hand man? What better way to torture Ryan and destroy any last shred of trust he had left?
I hope I'm wrong because I really like Mike. Or maybe if I'm not wrong, maybe Mike will turn on Joe in the end.
OR maybe Roderick is Mike's dad! dunh dunh DUUUUNNNNH~
I saw what might have been an accidental spoiler when googling "Roderick The Following" -- some stupid ass news article saying some person who was joining the cast as Roderick. I didn't look up this person because I didn't want to be spoiled but based on that I'm assuming it's NOT Mike?
IDK.
Also, Claire keeps mentioning Roderick might be from something-- was she saying The House of Usher? If so, what a weird person to draw your name from... he was basically a semi-insane dude who knowingly entombed his sister while she was still alive before the two of them fall dead and the whole house breaks in two. I feel like that should give a clue as to his identity but idk. Incidentally, people on one forum I found kept talking about how rich he must be to fund all this, assuming he's the one funding it all.
Maybe Mike is just a good guy unrelated in any way, even through family, to Joe Carroll. That would be good. But I still wonder why he was so interested in Ryan and Joe Carroll and all that in the first place. There must be some key piece of back story missing...
