sekai-ichi hatsukoi

I really like Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi although I wish it would stick more to the main couple. I don't really get this obsession with so many yaoi manga randomly having a thousand couples and everyone ever being gay. It kind of annoys me tbh, because even if I can be persuaded to like another couple or two, ultimately what I'm reading the story for is the main couple. So stick with them, jeez!

For anyone who may have missed it, the second season of SH's anime is being released. They're up to the second episode so far.

Something that's been interesting to me was I reread the manga after watching the first season of the anime... and if you only watched the anime, you would have no idea when people actually sleep together. The anime glosses over everything so much it seems like nothing really happens half the time.

I can't decide whether I find that to be mildly irritating or simply off-putting. Ultimately, I'm kind of glad that they don't really do anything more in the anime because the sounds the voice actors make when kissing are really embarrassing to me -_-; particularly Onodera's seiyuu. But despite that, I wish they would at least make it more obvious what's happening so people realize the way their relationship is developing.

At least they're getting better about that in more recent episodes...

Another thing that I don't like as much in the anime as I do the manga is that in the manga the parts that are funny come off way better. Somehow I find the gags to be timed better there, or even when there aren't gags the way Onodera responds to things just seems funnier to me in the manga. Maybe I don't love his seiyuu? I'm not sure. It's not like I have anything against his seiyuu at all... it must just be that Onodera in action doesn't match the Onodera in my mind.

By the way, if anyone's following SH, September Scanlations has been doing the scanlating recently. A super short omake was just released today from vol 6. Sekaiichi Hatsukoi 1.5: The Case of Takano Masamune. It's sort of a continuation from the first Case of Takano Masamune. I actually rather enjoyed reading The Case of Takano Masamune because it flashes back to his side of things back in high school and it's interesting to see what he was thinking.

And this concludes my random entry on SH.
