As she patrolled the cemetery, she paused and leaned up against a tombstone. Tomorrow would be her thirtieth birthday, a milestone that she had believed that she would never see. But she had by some miracle, well a miracle that was Willow-shaped. Being the Slayer hadn’t been easy for her, but since the closure of the Sunnydale Hellmouth, things had gotten slightly easier. For one thing, there hadn’t been yearly apocalypses for her to deal with. And having more than two Slayers also helped to make things more manageable. She didn’t have to do everything to save the world on her own anymore. However, she still hadn’t believed that she would ever survive fourteen years as a Slayer, even with all of the extra help that she had had. Then again she had died twice, only to be brought back to life again. She sighed as she pulled herself up off the tombstone; she eyed her surroundings and resumed her patrol. It was obviously the calm before the storm, since she knew that there were big plans for her birthday. Being the only Slayer who had lived as long as she did, who had died twice and who had loved two ensouled vampires, usually ensured that birthdays were loud and large affairs with an element of danger. Her thirtieth birthday would be no different, especially considering all of her other birthdays.
