Not Looking for Someone Else. Willow’s been in LA since Tara’s death and Sunnydale didn’t get destroy.
Summary: Willow returns home and finds Sam Winchester.
When Willow had received the phone call from Xander, she knew that she had to return home. The Hellmouth was unstable and they needed a witch to cast a spell over it. According to Giles’ research, every two hundred years or thereabouts, the active Hellmouth would become unstable unless this spell was preformed. Thankfully, Buffy had some help in ensuring that no one would perform another dark rite over the Hellmouth that would see it split wide open allowing the forces of evil access to the world.
Willow didn’t ask who Buffy had help from instead she had made her promises and packed her bags. Wesley had booked her flight for her and Angel had driven her to the airport. There had been a funeral air at Angel Investigations as if they all knew that they were losing her to Buffy and Sunnydale, despite her reassurances that she would return. As the plane landed in the small airport in Sunnydale, Willow vowed that she would return to LA, that was her home now.
She scanned the area for Xander’s familiar face and instead Willow was surprised to see Sam Winchester. It had been two years since she had seen him and she was shocked to see him at her hometown’s airport. Even more so when he said something to Xander and they both made their way over to her. She had so many questions but her mouth was dry as she remembered the night they had shared.
“Willow! You’re here,” Xander said as he embraced her.
“Xander, I need to breathe.”
“Sorry,” Xander said as he broke the hug, “This is Sam Winchester. Him and his brother are in town and they’re helping with the watch over the Hellmouth.”
“Hi Sam,” Willow responded shyly.
“Hey Willow.”
They both shared a rueful smile that Xander missed as he started to tell Willow everything that had happened in the last two years. She couldn’t believe that Sam was here in Sunnydale and that he was helping out with the Hellmouth. Willow realized that the night when they had first met they had both done their best to hide their secret identities from one another. And she wondered why fate had brought them together now.
“How’s Jess?” Willow innocently asked.
“She’s dead,” Sam bluntly responded.
“What?” Willow asked as she stopped walking and tugged on his sleeve forcing him to look at her.
“It’s a long story, and we need to focus on fixing the problem with the Hellmouth.”
“I am so sorry, Sam,” Willow said, ignoring Xander’s gaping look as she embraced the taller man.
“You guys know each other?” Xander asked.
“Yeah, it’s a long story,” Willow responded as she moved away from Sam.
“A very long story,” Sam confirmed.
“Well, I guess it’s true that it’s a small world after all,” Xander said with a grin.
“Yeah, I guess it is,” Willow said with a sad smile.
They continued to make their way to Xander’s car and he started to tell her about the situation with the Hellmouth. Willow barely paid attention to Xander’s words; instead she kept stealing glances at Sam. Once they fixed the Hellmouth, she promised to spend time with Sam and to get to know him a bit more. She could only hope that he would let her in, just as she had let him in two years ago.
