They had somehow let themselves be dragged off to yet another fashionable nightspot with Valera and Eric. Ever since Eric’s relationship with Natalia had fizzled out, Eric had asked Valera out to nightclubs, parties, and so on. The lab tech had no problem hanging out with him, but she didn’t want Eric getting the wrong impression so she kept asking Calleigh to join them and Calleigh kept asking Ryan to accompany her so that she wouldn’t be a third wheel in case anything happened between Valera and Eric. Ryan looked over at Calleigh and rolled his eyes as Valera and Eric took off for the dance floor again. Neither Calleigh nor Ryan were really nightclub people, especially not the trendy or fashionable nightclubs that Eric and Valera seemed to be fond of.
”Calleigh, do me a favour, just say no the next time Valera asks you to be a chaperone when she goes out with Eric.”
”I keep trying,” Calleigh shouted over the music, “But she keeps refusing to take no for an answer.”
”Why?”
”She doesn’t want Eric to get the wrong idea.”
”Isn’t he going to get the wrong idea with the way they’re dancing together?” Ryan asked as he watched the couple on the dance floor together.
“Don’t ask me to explain how Valera’s mind works.”
”I won’t.”
”Let’s just go, I am getting tired of this.”
“Sounds great to me. How about we go rent a movie and watch it at my place?” Ryan asked.
“That sounds so much better than watching those two behave themselves, or not,” Calleigh said with a laugh as she watched their co-workers together.
