100moods for prompt #39 (exhausted.) Set during the second half of ATS Season One.
Wesley still felt like he was an outsider within their small group, despite Cordy and Angel’s warm welcome, especially as he watched Angel and Cordy collapse on the couch in exhaustion. It was just another reminder of how he would always be on the outside looking in. And it was a bitter reminder that he had a twenty-minute journey in front of him to get to his motel room. Just as he was about to go upstairs to make the trip, Cordelia opened one eye and glared at him.
“Just where do you think you’re gonna Wes?” Cordelia asked, her words slightly mumbled.
“I was going home.”
”Come on, Wes, you’re as exhausted as me.”
”That’s why I was going home.”
”Sit down and stop being so silly. We’re all exhausted from taking out that nest of demons.”
”Would you two be quiet,” Angel grumbled.
Wesley sat down beside Cordelia as she shifted over. Part of him felt weird, but at the same time he finally felt as if he was completely accepted, even though the person who had accepted him was exhausted and seconds away from sleep. She couldn’t even begin to comprehend what she had done for him. Cordy gave him a sleepy smile as he sat down and put his feet up on the coffee table.
”Wouldn’t want you to get into any accidents, trying to get home. Anyhow Angel here makes a great breakfast.”
”Cordelia, shut up,” Angel growled.
”Alright already,” Cordelia said in response.
He wanted to say something to show his gratitude but it didn’t seem like the most appropriate time or place. And he was already falling asleep as Cordelia snuggled up against him, murmuring something about him being warm.
