Notes: Written for CSI50 for set #1, prompt #35 (suspect.) Set during CSI Season Five, after Ecklie has split the team up.
Although her father had never been found guilty of any crimes, one wouldn’t know it from the way Ecklie had acted about her relationship with her father. She couldn’t help who her father was or what he had done, and she really didn’t have a problem with either him or his past. She had come to terms with that sometime ago, and as long as he obeyed the law now, Catherine was content. But the concern that her relationship with him could possibly compromise both the lab and the cases that she had worked on before had grown since her meeting with Ecklie. It worried her that because of who her father was, she could jeopardize her job, and she started to consider the possibility of moving to another crime lab in another state where her family connections wouldn’t constantly be under scrutiny by her bosses, the defense lawyers who were looking at any angle to get their clients off the hook, and even the media who seemed to want to smear everything with some taint or another.
