She supposed that it had only been a matter of time before Angel would lose his soul, after all Willow had yet to find a way to permanently anchor it. And following the same train of thought, she should have known that once he was released again, Angelus would hunt her down. Not only had she caught him the last time he had been free, but she had also bested him at his own game. In a lot of ways, she wasn’t surprised to find herself at his mercy, but she was confused as to why he had tied her up and brought her to the top of the Hyperion, especially when it was so close to the sunrise.

“Why darlin’ I never thought you’d wake up,” Angelus drawled.
“I’m awake and dawn’s not that far off, so what’s your game now Fang Face?” Faith asked as she strained against her restraints.
“What is it about your Slayers? You’re all so slow when it comes to catching on?”
”Why don’t you fill me in?”
”Ah Faithy, you would have been a perfect mate but I do prefer blondes.”
”You’re just wasting time,” Faith said as she tried to act unimpressed.
“Maybe but you’re forgetting something,” Angelus said with a smirk that caused her to tremble in fear.
“What’s that?”
”Any witch can perform a soul restoration spell, not just your precious little Willow Rosenberg.”
”So?”
”Not too smart are you?” Angelus asked as he slowly pulled on a pair of leather gloves and walked beside her.
“And you’re not to sane are you?” Faith defiantly replied.

Angelus didn’t say anything as he walked over to her and pulled out a cross and waved it in front of the brunette Slayer’s face. As she violently reacted to the cross, the pieces of the puzzle fell into place for her. He had turned her and then had had someone to curse her with her soul in order to get his revenge. She shuddered in pain as he touched the cross to her face, which caused her flesh to burn. He laughed as he watched her torment.

“Caught on, did you darlin’?”
”Why?”
“Because I can and because it will tear Willow up to pieces when she realized how she helped to bring me down.”
“You sick bastard!” Faith snarled.
“Why don’t you watch your pretty little mouth,” Angelus cruelly said as he pressed the cross fully against her lips.

Faith screamed in pain as he removed the cross from her lips. Angelus looked up at the sky, which was rapidly lightening with the approach of dawn. He dropped the cross on the ground in front of her and smirked at the sight of the brunette bound and broken before her. He slowly ran his gloved hand along the line of her jaw and sighed.

”Too bad things couldn’t have been different. You would have been perfect.”
”Go rot in Hell,” Faith struggled to say through her blistered lips.
“I would love to stay around to see you get what you so richly deserve but I must run, darlin’. I have a prior engagement with the lovely Buffy.”

She could feel the sun as it slowly started to rise higher and higher in the sky as she watched Angelus smirk one more time at her before he turned on his heel and made his quick retreat. Faith wished that she could somehow warn Buffy and the others of what was coming towards them, because she knew that whatever torture Angelus had planned for them was worse than what she was facing. She let out a strangle cry as the first deadly rays of the sun hit her skin, and all thoughts of Buffy and the others quickly fled. All she could hope for now was a quick death.
