writing for .cent

Jun 03, 2009 14:29

I know there are a few writers on my friends list, so I thought this might be of interest:

Hi all,

As you may know, for each edition .Cent calls for new writers to submit work to the issue. Each must be a response to one of our chapter titles and, if chosen, the writing works as an introduction to the segment. We have recently released issue 13, 'The Spaces In Between', Guest Edited by greyworld, so we're now working on the next magazine.

It will be Guest Edited by the Head of Womenswear for the fashion house Aquascutum, Michael Herz. Michael's issue is titled 'Contradictions' and will be the Autumn/Winter 09 edition.

The chapter titles for creative writing submissions are as follows:

* Fractures
* Smoke and Mirrors
* All Mixed Up
* Layer
* Day Dreams

The brief is as follows:

* A strict maximum word count of 350.
* Submission deadline Monday 8th June 2009.
* We will be seeking a mixture of forms: prose/ poetry/ script.
* You may submit work for as many titles as you wish.
* Submissions and published work are on an unpaid basis.
* You may feel free to interpret the title however you wish, although please bear in mind that we will chose the piece that best encapsulates and introduces the chapter theme.
* The best submission for each chapter title will be printed in the issue.
* Submissions which do not make the magazine may still be published on our website, which is www.centmagazine.co.uk , although still in works.
* Please include the credit you wish to be published should your work be selected. We would like to support your work so feel free to include website details or alternative projects that are suitable to print.
* Should your work be published we will gladly send you a hard copy + tear sheets, please make sure you include your name, address and phone number.
* .Cent reserves the right to make the final decision.

If your work is not selected for this issue, we will keep you on file for creative writing submissions to future issues. Please let me know if this is of interest to you.

We look forward to receiving your work. If you'd like to ask any questions please feel free!

Kind regards,

Natalie

Natalie appears to be out of the office, but I found the email info@centmagazine.co.uk on the website; maybe best to use that one.

Let me know if you submit anything!
