I posted lots of pictures of facebook and don't really feel like posting a lot anymore, but sadly, Hurricane Sandy wiped out the LBI house. We had 41" of standing water outside, and 21" inside the house. It is all drained now and everything on the first floor of the house is ruined.

that's so sad :( i saw the pictures on facebook, i couldn't believe how high the water got in some places in the house

i was wondering (thankfully i've never been in a flood situation, especially not with salt water so i hope this isn't a stupid question) but why do things like gates and beach chairs and boogie boards need to be thrown away? did the force of the water break them? is it rust? i was confused bc something like a boogie board is made to go in the ocean right?

i never thought about something being water logged and basically crumbling, hope you didn't take my question wrong, i'm a curious girl, i'm like a toddler, i get a question in my head and i desperately need to ask someone, at least i'm always learning lol

Oh,not at all! I had always wondered the same things. And the pictures that I have, not everything looks damaged, but it isn't until you see it, smell it or touch it that you really realize that it is all ruined. So strange. Normally, the news shows pictures of homes that have actually crumbled or are covered with black mold on the walls. (Although, since our house has still not been emptied or ripped, maybe in the next week or so when we get to do so, there will be black mold! Yuck.)

I'll post more pictures of the entire process as time goes on...this is going to be a busy year! ha.

i hope you don't have to mess with that mold, it's dangerous stuff airborne or on the skin, wear a mask!
