Dear Yuletide Author:

Hi! This is my first time participating in Yuletide! I am super excited!

This year, I'm asking for the following fandoms, which all occupy special little places in my heart.

Heathers (1988)

Somewhere, possibly on the DVD extras to the movies, the screenwriter joked about the possibility of doing a Heathers sequel in which Veronica becomes a super spy or assassin or something.

Writer, I would really love to see this become a reality. My heart's desire would be for a fic starring Veronica and Martha Dunstock (aka Martha Dumptruck, who rocks a trucker mullet and is probably the best person ever) becoming besties and getting through the rest of high school, and then becoming international People of Intrigue. Crossovers are always welcome. Maybe they join SHIELD! Maybe they hang out with Frank and Victoria from RED! Maybe they're recruited by the Evil League of Evil! Or maybe they just ride off into the sunset, guns blazing, to go avert international crises. Or cause them, whatever.

The Tomorrow Series/The Ellie Series by John Marsden

This series is something that shaped/warped me when I was a teenager. It's about a group of Australian teenagers who, while camping in the woods, come back to find that their country has been invaded and occupied by a foreign military. Lacking any kind of alternative besides surrender, they become terrorists. Or freedom fighters. The line is pretty blurry. One of the reasons that I love this story is that it's graphic and upfront about the violence and horror of war, and what it does to individuals and families. It's also a pretty rad portrayal of teenagers being teenagers, rather than weird virginal emoting machines.

At some point, the group picks up a gaggle of kids. Most of the kids are eventually sent to New Zealand, and after the war, reunited with their families or adopted out. The exception is Gavin, who is adopted by Ellie (the narrator) and her parents.

Gavin is of an indeterminate age when we first meet him. I'd guess he's somewhere between 10-12? He's also deaf/hard of hearing. HE IS SUPREMELY BADASS. He is also warped, because of the war, and because (SPOILERS!), his stepfather was abusive and tried to kill him. Twice.

So what happens after the events of the books? What is Gavin like as a teenager or a grown adult? I would love to see either a character exploration or a fic that writes about his future badassery, not ignoring the fact that he is 1.) deaf, or 2.) pretty screwed up. I will take angst, so long as there's a happy-ish ending, or at least the hope for one. No dark!fic, please.

The Addams Family (1991 movie)

Morticia: When we first met years ago, it was an evening much like this. Magic in the air. A boy.
Gomez: A girl.
Morticia: An open grave. It was my first funeral.
Gomez: You were so beautiful. Pale and mysterious. No one even looked at the corpse.

Is there anything better than creepy and ridiculous romances? Gomez Addams is my hero, Morticia is my one true love, please tell me the story of how they became so amazing and terrifying. What were they like as twenty somethings? Were there romantic rivals? Was there a wedding or did they elope?

Un Lun Dun by China Mieville

Okay, so there are evil giraffes, people with pincushion heads, clothing made of books, parkour gangs, spelunking librarians, binjas, and a dimensional/spatial bridge named after a part of the brain. The hero was meant to be the "funny" sidekick, and the book of prophecy is actually totally bunk, but still pretty sassy. There's a boy whose mother was a ghost, and about a zillion puns of varying quality.

Honestly, I don't really care what you write. Although I would really love an appearance of more evil giraffes.

Things I don't like:
Dubcon
Overwhelming angst
Sad endings
Fatphobia (for Martha Dunstock, she kicks ass, and I do not want her going on some crap miracle diet and losing 100 pounds.)
Ignoring disabilities (again for Martha, who's in a wheelchair and neckbrace at the end of Heathers, or for Gavin, who is deaf and screwed up with PTSD. They have issues! They are still amazing!)

Things I like:
Morbid/dark humor (obviously)
Ridiculous premises (obviously)
Wit
Feelings
Sexy, sexy consent
Evil giraffes

YOU ARE AMAZING! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
