Now I can die happy.

Kidding.

It's just this joy of finally finding something I've been looking for for such a long time, so overwhelming.

I'm talking books here (and trying to be sarcastic).

SOAS library is amazing in many regards. I can't really speak for all programmes, but for an undergraduate degree in Chinese Studies, you pretty much have all the ( Read more... )

Hm, kai baigiau studijas, pagaliau atsirado laiko pradėti lankytis bibliotekose.

Hehe, looks like English libraries are striving to imitate the excellence of German ones. :D ;)
(Yes, there's hiding of books and misplacing them on purpose, but I think there's also simple disability on the part of students to understand the order of the alphabet and of numbers... *rolls eyes*
I've always admired the service in English libraries where they hire people to put books back on the shelves. Over here, staff puts back the stuff that is returned after having been taken out, but students are required to put the books they use in the library back themselves. With foreseeable consequences. ;) )

Well, our classmarks are a bit crazy, it's not by the alphabet, so it really is easy to mix up, say, CC951.056 and CC951.56, or CC307.6 and c.307.6, especially if you're sleepy or have just been writing your essays for 10 hours straight :) But at least the students should be clever enough to put books back on the reshelving trolleys... not leave them on random tables or hide them behind other books on purpose! That's just mean.
