Looking for my first beta
1. Pen Name- starlightshade
2. Fandom- Sherlock Holmes 2009/movieverse
3. Rating of the story- M, definitely.
4. Spoilers/Time Line- Both movies, maybe some ACD book canon(?)
5. Pairing- JW/SH, JW/Mary, MAYBE OT3
6. Beta Type- This is my first time writing for a fandom where I don't know everything there is to know about canon, so I'd love a beta who knows their way around Victoriana. I'm working entirely from memory as my job and thesis don't leave me time to research if I want to get any writing done so someone who's more educated than me in the life and times of Holmes&co would be invaluable.
Grammar and spelling checks as well as britpicking (I write AE) would be very much appreciated. I'd also love someone who is not afraid of deconstructing long, flowery sentences and making them more readable.
I'm writing this story as a response to a prompt, so I'd love it if my beta could keep me on track a little as my writing tends to wander off a lot. Pacing and dialogue need to be checked, I believe. I'm doing what I can to keep my characters IC while responding to the circumstances set forth in my prompt but I'd definitely be glad if my beta could also check that over.
Finally, I'd love someone to give me some pointers on close-range fighting styles (boxing and baritsu in particular, but I'm happy with general pointers). I don't mind if you don't know anything about the fandom or characters, but I need someone to help me make my fight scenes flow realistically, please?
7. Harshness- I'm thick-skinned and love writing. Any amount of constructive criticism is welcome, and I won't mind it being given directly. I'm a bit of an obsessive perfectionist so I'm more scared of my beta being so annoyed with me as to quit.
