Kitten Tortured To Death In Japan
I found this story on a friend's journal (hope they don't mind me reposting) and just had to say something about it. Mostly.. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!
Who the hell does shit like that? And in Japan? The place where crime is supposed to be low, everything is squeaky clean, and everyone loves cute little cuddly animals? I don't understand this. I'd expect this to happen in the United States, not there. But no matter where it happens, it's just plain awful.
The guy will probably end up mysteriously dead, though. In Japanese myth, it is believed that a nekomata will curse the family of anyone who mistreats a cat for seven generations.
Also, the more I read about nekomata, the more they seem to be a lot like kitsune. I guess in their belief, any animal who has lived enough lives will eventually gain sentience and become a human. Kind of interesting. But that's another story for another time and place.
