Thank you! Ikea is the most awesome place ever for nooks and crannies of a room!
The bars and hooks are so useful, they were literally a couple of bucks each. I put them up as an afterthought, but they are now indispensable! Gone are the days of draping pattern pieces all over the place, totally in the way-- they now have a nice neat place to be until their turn comes!
The photo back drop I got at a photo supply store, it's the real deal that is used in photoshoots, it was about 50 bucks. I had them cut it down a little to fit the closet pole/drapery finials I have it hanging on, and it is held from unravelling by circular quilt clips. It's pretty long, and the more careful you are the longer they last. This is my second one in 15 years, so they last quite a while! When the bit being used gets too mangled, you just cut it off and roll it out more. They come in all kinds of colors, too!
Thank you! I love seeing people's sewing rooms, too. Since the room was miraculously clean, I thought I would give back!
I'm pretty spoiled with this nice big room. But, I spent my first ten years sewing crammed into a corner of a tiny room, or using the dining table and the livingroom floor. When we moved here 15 years ago, I took the room and never gave it back!
Thanks for the tour! I love checking out other people's spaces. I especially love your iron station and your Italian dress form. *swoon* I've been halfheartedly trying to clean and tidy my own space for the past several months. Yours is very inspiring!
Thanks! and, you're welcome! I love seeing other people's sewing spaces, too! The ironing station is a dream come true-- after decades of wresting with an ironing board that was too small and too short for me!
I hear you on the ironing board! I've got it a little easier than you (I'm 5'10") but I still look forward to the day when I have a sewing room that will accommodate something taller and broader.
