I hate BU
I can't believe the election's not even this fall, there's been so much hype about it already! And going to the school I do, where we just love our affirmative action, we have Barack Obama speaking. I'll be honest, if it wasn't $23 I'd like to go and hear what he has to say because I'm not really clear on what he wants, and he tends to pull the let's celebrate our diversity through our unity...which always sounded kind of hypocritical to me.
So voting's fun and good for the country and all, and now even MTV says it's cool. But since they're catering to the teenage crowd, everyone likes to play the I'll vote for whoever they tell me is cool game! These guys did a little video survey of college students in the Boston area, asking people if they knew who Barack Obama was. The way people answer is just ridiculous, because it's one thing to say you don't know who he is, which is fine. It's still early, the election's almost 2 years away, plenty of time to figure it out. But my lord, some of these people, when asked if they knew who he was said yes, and that they would definitely vote for him because "He's totally gorg" and "Knows how to party." Come on people, you need a better reason than that to vote for someone!
Knowing who he is is the first step, now how about learning about his platform and voting for him because you like what he believes, not because you want to "Get down with him."

And if you'll skip ahead to about the 1:16 mark and watch to about 5:00, you'll see my lovely school. Including the drunk girl screaming and sticking the microphone up to her cleavage and the girl who'll vote for him because he has "A cool name."
So that's my school, those are the people whose conversations I have to listen to when sitting in the cafeteria. I need to get out of this place. Spring break is such a tease-you're so close to the end of the year and you go away and mean to do all of your work (but actually do none), and then you have to come back. :( Summer now!! And an end to these classes, because 3 out of 4 are kicking my ass like whoa.
