I think I'm just bad luck :(
For those who don't know already I got into a car accident yesterday. No, it wasn't my fault *for once!*. Here's the full story-
I had just left work and was driving on Golf Road up in Schaumberg up by Woodfield Mall *because my office is like a block away from Woodfield*. So traffic blows because everyone's driving slowly so I move over into the left hand lane behond some psycho who slams on his brakes everytime he has to stop. You all know that kind. Anyways, I decided to kind of back up off him because he obviously wasn't really paying attention to the road. So I'm watching this guy lean over to grab something and he doesn't notice that the car in front of him had stopped. So he slams on breaks so hard that it brings him to a dead stop immediatly. I did the same thing and would have avoided hitting him when all of a sudden I hear the back end of my car go crunching in and I fly forward. Apparently the guy behind me wasn't paying attention. My luck.
So I just remember sitting there trying to figure out what happened because he hit me so hard that I blacked out when I was thrown forward so when it was over I couldn't make sense of really anything. All I could see in my rear view mirror was this guys SUV crunched in with radiator fluid leaking out. So I immediatly call 911 and go out to see if everyone's ok. Now, when I was getting out I could feel this sharp pain in my lower back/ tailbone area. So when the operator asked for injuries I told her no becuase everyone was fine. Other than the fact that the 16 year old that hit me was scared out of his mind, everyone was fine. So I go back in my car and talk to the operator some more about where my location is. I turn my neck around and try and see what road we're by when all of a sudden this pain fills my neck area. The operator heard me say "Ow" and asked if I needed an ambulance. You all know me. I dont like making a big deal of things and I thought bringing and ambulance to the scene would have just made it worse seeing as how I wasn't bleeding. After arguing with the operator for a few minutes, we hung up and I called my mom. During that time the police came and an officer asked me what happened. I told him the whole story and he knew I was complaining of injuries so he asked me again if I needed to go to the hospital because if I was hurt, then on the report it would just say minor accident. My injuries wouldn't be reported. So I told him yes because by that time the pain in my lower back increased and I didn't want that to get any worse. So he called an ambulance.
Seriously, not even two minutes later an ambulance comes and they put me in a neck brace and load me up on a stretcher. It was weird becuase I didn't get up and sit on the stretcher. They had to put a board under my butt and pull me up, I wasn't allowed to move which was VERY frustrating!! So the people in the ambulance strap me in as tight as they can so all I could see was the top of the car and some guys head. LOL. Then they took my car key because they were gonna tow my car it was so bad. :( Buh-bye car! And then we were on our way. LOL and yes, they turned the sirens on for me. That was probably the coolest part of that day! LOL.
We end up getting to this hospital in Arlington Heights. It was weird because all I could see were the hospital lights. That's it. Which was kind of weird because it reminded me of the movies and when they wheel people in....yea....you all know what I mean. So that was a little weird. Umm...then I was sent to the emergency room, the doctor checked out my spine and there were no other injuries other than the fact that my neck and lower spine hurt. He decided that I should get some x-rays done and left me with dressing gowns. So yes, might I add that yesterday was a perfect day to wear a thing becuase the hospital gowns are obviously backless. Luckily I was given two so I was fully covered, but it still sucked. I did all the usual stuff. I had to pee in a cup, then went off to x-rays, laid in weird positions, then got out. My stepdad was already there before the x-rays were done so we were talking about everything. I found out the guy behind me had gotten a ticket and all the info about the report. So yeah..
X-rays came out fine. I just had real bad whiplash in my neck and my lower back is bruised up pretty badly. I think it was caused by the whiplash but I'm not sure. The doctor didn't explain that. So yeah, went home after that and totally passed out in my sisters room.
Today I'm really feeling it. Can't move my neck without it hurting, my lower back hurts like a bitch, and I'm sick to my stomach. So yeah, pretty much whenever I move I'm in pain and when I don't, I have a tummy ache. Not fun.
So it's kind of ironic that all this has to happen before the holidays. Doesn't make me too happy because I still haven't finished my Christmas shopping. So there goes Melissa's Christmas cheer. Not fun. I'm gonna go lay down tho. The chair is starting to hurt my lower back. Much <3. Hope your holidays go better than mine.
