A day in pictures

Oct 10, 2005 23:51

I have to say that yesterday was one of the best days I've had in awhile. Just to let you all know, I haven't had a day off in almost two weeks. I've been missing the time I have just by myself and I've really wanted to go outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather.

After taking the advice of my dear friend Bethy I played hooky from work and go enjoy myself. I left at 3:15pm to head off to...err..."work". I had wanted to see Tim Burton's Corpse Bride for the longest time and thought today would be a good day to see it but the next showing was at 4:05pm. So I did what I always do before I catch a movie, I go to Petland and play with the animals there.

Here are some pictures...

There weren't a lot of puppies available to play with so I decided to head over and see what kittens they had. Oh lord, I thought I would just about die when I saw these babies! They were so cute!

I ended up picking the orange one that was being smothered by the black cat on top of her. She was so adorable! She tried to get out of my arms and decided to randomly attack the wall. Yeah, she was a little off but still adorable!

Yep, and there's her attacking the wall. I recorded it on my camera but I don't know how to put movies on here through Windows Media Player but it's still really funny!

I didn't have long to play with the kitten and I left at 4:00pm to head across the street to the theatre. Corpse Bride was ok. I mean, nothing can beat Nightmare but that's just me.

The movie ended at 5:30 and I ended up heading to the river right off of Route 64 to go read becuase it was such a beautiful day outside...

This was my view of the river. You can't tell but there are protesters up on the road. They had a whole bunch of signs saying "Impeach Bush" and "Stop the war". It was quite amazing seeing it in St. Charles of all places! For those who dont know, St. Charles is severly conservative and I was shocked to find that these people would do it here of all places!

Yes, I had to take a picture of the ducks...

Here are some of the protesters. If you can imagine, I had to slink from park bench to park bench to take these pictures. I felt so sneaky! But I think these pics are beautiful becuase it's catching them in action.

And at another angle...

I really wanted to join them but I was too shy. I didn't know how to approach them. I mean, I'm sure if I had said something they would have let me join in but I'm a dork. I was too scared. I ended up just watching them.

I think if someone were with me, I would have done it but I tried calling all of you and no one picked up! Grr...

Regardless it was something to remember...

It started getting dark an hour after I arrived and I took one last pic of the tower off to the side. It was absolutely breathtaking becuase the sunset was behind it and the lights all around made it look almost magical. Unfortunatley enough, my camera's lighting wasn't the best but you get the gist of it.

I ended up leaving and went to Starbucks to get some Pumpkin Spice Latte to warm myself up. I sat around and read for a bit and listened to the XM Radio Sessions they had playing in the background. I ended up liking it so much that I bought it. After another good hour or so, I moved myself from the Starbucks in St. Charles to the Borders in Geneva. I bought myself the most beautiful stationary set and wrote a letter to my friend Jenna who's studying abroad in London for the semester. After writing her a letter and reading for another half hour, I left to go home.

I probably got to the area at around 9:15 or so and since I normally come home from "work" at 9:30 I decided to explore a bit. I turned into the Marmion Academy that's down the street from my house and just drove. I didn't care where or whether I was going to get lost, I just drove. I went all the way into the back of the school and saw that there was this dirt road that veered off to the right. Of course I decided to go down there! I have to say that I was freaked out as hell becuase the woods were so thick by the road and there weren't any lights. So I drove and drove until I got to the end (becuase I'm brave like that) but then turned around and sped back to the school becuase I didnt want to spend another moment on it!

I got home at 9:30 as planned and went upstairs to bed. I don't think I could have asked for a better day. I honestly needed the time to myself to kind of ground myself with the stress of what's been going on lately. I'm hoping that I can get at least one day a week to where I can go out and enjoy the beauty nature. Maybe head off to the forest preserve or go back down to the river or...something!

I really hope you enjoyed the pics! Believe me! Now that I have a digital camera, I will be making much use of it!

I love you all! :)
