People's Church

Dec 11, 2004 22:17

A building with a lot of rooms, where people just come together and build community. There will be worship at the beginning and end of service. In between there will be no "pastor" speaking, but instead groups of people meeting in the different rooms. One will be labeled domestic violence, or alcoholics, homosexuality, youth athletes, youth artists, divorcees, young couples, struggling couples, married adults, praise, so on so forth. A room for everyone, or as many as possible. You would never be assigned a room, and you don't have to go to the same place ever again if you choose. It's all personal, and it's all just people coming together to walk through their struggles and joys together, in community. To worship God, and have it be about the people, not the pastor. EVERYONE will get to speak, their faith will be individual, a choice. They get to choose when they are ready to address each struggle. And nomatter where they go or what they do, they will find support from other people going through the same thing. Each room will have a "moderator", or in other words "associate pastor". Once a month, there will be a "sermon" given by the "head pastor". People will no longer be falling asleep in church, or not paying attention. They will be hungry for the sermon, because it won't be monotonous. It will be a place to touch base, to get a little guidance, where they can just listen. ONCE A MONTH. Other than that one day, the church will be entirely interactive. Church will be as it was intended to be, a place for believers to come together and worship. There will be no condemnation because everyone will also be there addressing their struggles/joys, so each person will be able to relate on some level. I am not getting rid of the whole idea of the pastor in this idea of a church. There will still need to be a head, a leader. But instead of everyone listening to them every sunday, and every wednesday, they will speak once a month, and other than that be available for individual counseling. They will also be there for counsel for the associate pastors. There's A LOT more to it. And I would type the entire idea here, but it would take forever. Most of the people who read this journal have my number, if you wanna discuss it, call me. If you don't have it, then leave a comment and your e-mail and I'll mail it to ya. But yeah. That's about it. Please don't massacre me, I get enough of that from the other christians at my school. Love you all, happy days and happy nights!
