Tony frowns into his coffee as if a scowl alone could make it heat back up. He's been looking at the same charts for over five hours now, pouring over data points that aren't going to change and just make him feel grim. He's not sure what to do, and that's a problem because he's not the sort to admit something like that. The hold in the basement of the building is filled with agents by this point. Natasha and Fury himself have joined Clint and three dozen others.
Cap and Bruce are on standby but in isolation. They'd all been at that meeting this morning. They could all be infected or carriers. Tony's been working through the internet and sat-link with Bruce and biologists but no one can figure this out. It's not biological. It's not technological.
It's alien. And it's beyond them.
Tony's never been happier to hear the thunder god arrive, incidentally, and he sits up and turns around in the chair. "Took you long enough. How's your parents?"
