Aqua's focus was all on protecting Ven and the more permanent residents of Destiny Islands. She strode along the snowy beach with purpose, looking for any sign of the dog-like creature that had invaded the world. She sensed no malice from it in the same way she had with Unversed or, more recently, Heartless. Yet she knew it was a danger all the same, and if it attacked anyone, she had to be there to protect them.

She let out a soft gasp when she spotted the creature someways out to sea, poised on the ice and its eyes fixed straight on her. She couldn't help but wonder at how beautiful and majestic it was, even despite the chaos it caused.

But if it was going to hurt anyone, that ended here. She summoned her Master's Keyblade, the heavier and larger frame different to her old Keyblade but now familiar to her hands.

And she waited.

Suicune had perked Tidus' interest. After noticing how fast it moved, he decided the thing responsible for freezing the beaches would be a fun practice opponent.

So, there he was, running down the beach and onto frozen ocean water. Shirtless.

As he was running, he considered maybe it hadn't been the best idea, but after casting Haste on himself he was so fast the cold hardly bothered him at all. For the time being, he was focusing on just chasing the creature to try and reach it.

It's too bad he didn't know that his water sword would do less damage than he thought.

After witnessing firsthand the amount of power this legendary beast had, Rinoa was slightly skeptical if her mere powers alone could take on such an opponent. It was true that as a Sorceress, something like this should be as easy as sipping tea on a summer day, but the young fighter still had a lot to learn about her abilities and wasn't sure if she wanted to take her chances with it being so close to a neighboring village.

This was why she didn't hesitate to invite others along for the battle. Just in case by some small chance appearances were deceiving. With a few clicks the pinwheel on her arm came to life, spinning vibrantly in a light shade while waiting for usage. "I don't want to hurt you, but ..." And with that she was already casting her first spell per the suggestion of someone earlier. With the wind at her feet and a flick of her wrist, the spell Firaga weaved a path directly for the beast.

Soon after, Zell followed Rinoa out to where Suicune dwelled. He made sure to usher everyone who wasn't fighting somewhere safe. Not everybody listened, of course, but the most he could do was pray they knew how to defend themselves if this got out of hand. When he arrived, he saw Rinoa sending out a Firaga, as well as a couple other fighters who decided to challenge the creature. One he recognized and the other he didn't. Really, he was just glad they had other people trying to defend Destiny Islands! He hoped they could all combine their efforts. Zell, however, came skidding to a stop at Rinoa's side ( ... )

In hindsight, this was not one of Selphie's better ideas. But the lure of mystery and intrigue pretty much over-rode all her good senses the minute she saw the beach covered in snow.

Something howled in the distance, something foreign and not of this world, she knew that much, and she also knew she had to see what it was.

She took off in the direction of the noise, her shoes crunching happily in the snow.

Joluk decided to help out in any way possible. He was used to the cold, and he knew how to hunt. Unfortunately, he lacked his bow and this strange creature was completely unfamiliar to him. The images in the communicator did not prepare him for how majestic and intimidating the creature was.

"I should just let the people with magic handle this," he muttered to himself. He saw the others doing things that were physically impossible in his world, though they still seemed to need some help. He couldn't leave without even attempting to aid them.

He managed to put together an improvised sling. It wasn't likely to do much damage, and it didn't have anywhere near the distance of his bow. Once he figured out what strategies the main fighters were using, he would know exactly where to aim.

If only the frozen beach had better places to hide.
