Indeed, the tall general with silver-hair stood out like a sore-thumb in this world, no matter where he might be. Despite the coarseness of the world, he accepted the challenge it presented since the largest body of it's population was rather lawless. Those that weren't however were easy enough to deal with though.

He'd heard Zell's arrival via the sound of it, but continued reading the piece of paper he currently held even as he spoke up toward the blond. "Welcome to Port Royal, Zell. What brings you here?"

"Yo!" was Zell's loud greeting, accompanied by a mock salute.

When it came to actually answering the question, however, he was a little sheepish. His grin was lopsided as he rubbed the back of his neck. Best just to be forward; he was pretty much just here to thank him, after all.

"Well, uh. I know it's been a few week since the Hades Cup, but I wanted to wait until I could do it in person." He paused, bouncing slightly on the balls of his feet. Restless, antsy. As always. "Uh. I just mean-- thank you for savin' my life back there."

He stopped bouncing, conscious that it may have made him look less than sincere as opposed to just nervous. It was hard to swallow his pride and admit he'd been mauled, but... In spite of that, he was completely genuine and even gave a grateful smile. "Really. I mean it."

Sephiroth set the paperwork down on the table before him and half turned to face the blond before him, despite the stoic expression he was silently amused when Zell ceased his bouncing...reminding him again somewhat of Zack with is actions and body language.

"You're welcome. I'm sure if our positions had been reversed you would have done the same, hm?"

"Well, of course!"

Anything less would have threatened Zell's personal code of honor. Well, and the fact that he was an all-around nice guy, really. He grinned, suddenly bringing his dukes up. Really, he could have just left it alone and ended it there, but Sephiroth was his hero, now. Which meant, Zell wasn't gonna leave him alone. And with that, he began bouncing again, throwing out a couple playful punches at the air.

"Maybe you could show me a few moves, huh?!"

There was a fleeting show of amusement at the shadow boxing moves and he gave the boy a subtle smile. Yes, the blond was definitely like Zack in some aspects he decided. "Perhaps. Would you be up to learning something which might help you with your control over your actions?"

Zell perked at the prospect. He hadn't actually expected Sephiroth to consider it. Most people tended to brush him off and be done with it, but it didn't stop him from trying regardless. He considered the question, wondering exactly what that entailed. Then again, did it matter? Balamb Garden underwent some grueling training itself and, overconfident though he was at the moment, Zell felt he could take on whatever Sephiroth had in store.

"Bring it on!" A pause, then he rubs the back of his neck. "Uh. When?"

"When would be good for you? I usually exercise in the mornings, but I can likely work you in at whatever is the best time for you. I will warn you though, it won't be easy and it'll likely take some time to master it. If you believe you're up to the challenge though, I'm willing to teach you."

Though he could only imagine what his friends would say about this once they found out. Usually it was Angeal who adopted the puppies and taught them what they needed to know. Still it shouldn't be that hard to do it himself, he thought.

"I'm a mornin' person, too. Sounds like a good a time as ever! Unless you're bored with paperwork."

Zell wasn't gonna push it too much, but... Boy, was he excited now. Not only did his new hero not brush him off, he was totally gonna teach him some undoubtedly awesome moves. "You kiddin' me? I'm ALWAYS up for a challenge! Nothin' can--" ...Uh. Well. That sentence would be an outright lie if he finished it. So he grinned sheepishly and waved a hand as if to dismiss the half-finished comment. "Anyway, I'm up for anything!"

Zell's excitement was rather obvious and as the blond rambled on in that excitement, Sephiroth split his attention between the blond's words and actions to consider possible locations which would work for the training he had proposed to the boy. Once he'd settled on one, he returned his full attention to Zell. "Would you like to begin today or wait till tomorrow morning?"

"We could begin today?!"

Whoops. So much for trying to be cool and collected-- not that he'd been succeeding well in the first place, but... Zell was crouched with his fists brought before him in anticipation. Just be glad he hasn't started yelling in full lung capacity mode yet, lest your ears start ringing from the noise.

"I ain't got no where to be, man."

The eagerness and excitement that Zell displayed at starting as soon as possible amused him, though the only outward signs of it were the subtle smile on his lips and the faint amusement lurking in his feline eyes. "Let us head on out to the ramparts of the fort here then, it serve us well enough for what I have in mind."

He lifted a hand to gesture for Zell to precede him out of the building and turned to put the papers he'd been dealing with up out of the way to deal with at a later time.

And Zell could only wonder what kind of training Sephiroth had in mind. Unable to contain his excitement, he bounded out the door and ... well, it was just a good thing he knew where the ramparts were. He was getting a little ahead of himself. He had no idea what made the rampart such an ideal place, but he didn't care. Skidding to a stop once he was there. And waited.

Gee. He wondered why everyone kept nagging him about running all the time.

Once he was certain there was nothing left out which could be easily swiped by the nimble-fingered in this world, Sephiroth followed Zell out to the ramparts easily. Giving Zell a nod of greeting, he walked over to stand beside one of the canon's facing outward toward the sea.

"Think you can hit this without actually landing the hit on it?" He asked, a gloved hand coming to rest on the large part of the canon's body.

All of that excitement came screeching to a halt at Sephiroth's inquiry. At first, Zell just looked completely stunned, then suspicious. For a powerful man like he was, Zell expected something a little more... uh. Well-- definitely not that. He planted his fists on his hips and squinted, not sure if maybe this guy had a mean sense of humor.

"Wait. Seriously? So, don't hit the thing, right? I'm doin' that now," he protested, mouth quirked to the side.

"No, I want you to hit it...just not land the hit on it." Sephiroth explained as he stepped back from the canon and apparently went to strike it with one fist---which came to an abrupt halt barely an couple inches away from the base of the canon. "Like so...understand?"

There was a hint of humor in his eyes, but it was far from mean. He understood just what Zell was going through actually, but the boy would learn hopefully, that controlling one's power and the ability to deliver it or rather, the ability to cease from doing so at a moment's notice, was just as important as the action of dishing that power out into one's enemies.

(Really, Sephiroth? Really? You probably could have taken on that Chimera by yourself and this is how you train? Sheesh.) That seemed like an odd practice-- for someone who's idea of training was seeing how hard and fast he could punch. Zell straightened his posture and observed Sephiroth; he noted the fleeting glimpse of humor, but he still wasn't sure about this. Nevertheless, he shrugged it off and nodded. How hard could it be?

He shook his body, getting the jitters and nerves loose, then balled up his fists, took a swing and-- CLANG!

...Maybe not that easy. Zell frowned, shaking his hand a little. Didn't hurt (he'd punched worse, after all), but in his overconfidence, he hadn't actually prepared himself for the impact, expecting to have been able to follow the instructions easily. He had less control over his body than thought--

"...Oh. Ohhhh-ho~."

That was clever, Seph.
