Danielle came back in to town yesterday, and while I was waiting for her plane to arrive, I was wondering about some stuff in the terminal (or, the area before the terminal, which non-flyers can longer get into). This is the area that parents say goodbye to children, husbands greet running children, cousins hug farewell, and brothers shake hands in salutation. Big emotional stuff happens here. And what kind of decor do we have? Sterile grey, with ads for government weapons contractors (this is the Huntsville airport, after all). Shouldn't these rooms be a little more homey, to support the mindset of the people having important little life moments in them? Maybe some more plants, a little Elton John playing, couches... Some pencils and printer paper for writing impromptu goodbye notes for people to read on the plane, giving the waterworks a secong go-round... I'm just saying. Seems oddly robotic and unempathetic. What are we, in Germany?
