Oh, she’d stumbled upon very young versions of them, River could tell. Literally she tumbled into them, well, him anyway.(

Hah! Great line, and great characterization, I could completely hear River’s voice saying that.
“in exotic outfits and killer shoes. ”
LOL! I literally laughed out loud at the shoes line. That is so totally River!
“She tried to remember what Amy had told her- when she saw her as no more than her best friend- about her early days with the Doctor. It was centuries ago, but she seemed to recall Amy’s tales of the first planet she’d gone to, where she’d met a beautiful archeologist time- traveler who knew how to keep the Doctor in his place like no one else (why, thank you Mummy).”
Lol, love the “thank you mummy.” But, you know, it never really occurred to me that River does have loads of spoilers. Somehow it never really hit me that River has not only heard stories about herself from Amy, but also in her archeology studies. So while the Doctor may be completely in the dark when it comes to spoilers, River actually has some information. Which is both cool that she has spoilers, but also a bit sad, since that foreknowledge does hem her in a bit, at least if she doesn’t want to risk changing time.
Hmm.. I’ll have to think about that.
“She really shouldn’t be impressed, but-oh, she loved that man.
“And…” he stuck his head out the door, “chances of rain later.”
Oh, she hated that man.”
Wonderful justoposition! Love him and hate him. So completley their relationship.
Again, good point, I hadn’t really thought about how River would feel, having her husband shut the Tardis door on her, shut her out and try to run away from her.
Wonderful characterizations throughout. I love River’s glee in one-upping her young husband. Her showing off for her mum. And her protectiveness. And that typical, I love him , I hate him, relationship that keeps it all so bouncy and interesting.

Their entire relationship is a juxtaposition. She kills him then uses all her lives to bring him back, he catches her whirling blindly through space then shuts the door on her- They have very mixed feelings apparently. Although, not so mixed, since in the end they are always right there together.
I am so honoured that you thought so highly of this, and that everything seemed in character and plausible, and funny (I love making people laugh. And cry. Either, really). Thank you very, very much!
