Prompt fic: Finders Keepers

Mar 28, 2008 17:01

In the interest of writing something today, I broke my own no fic rule. Don't tell my friends list. Anyway, this is what the prompt made me think of. It's not my novel, but it is me revisiting my favorite universe ever (the Aftermath Series, which is that Harlan/Marcus series I still obsess about, even though I keep it to myself these days), and ( Read more... )

I know that you are avoiding fic but I want to tell you that I love Harlan and Marcus and this really did just make me smile. (Even if it was sad.) Melancholy but hopeful and that makes it beautiful you know? Okay, this reply is incoherent but I wanted to say that I really truly enjoyed it.

Thanks, it was totally coherent and I appreciate it : ) I love these two a lot (a lot), so it was nice to revisit my favorite universe ever, even though it meant breaking my self-imposed fic exile. Still haven't worked any more on my novel, but today was errands day, so.

*kicks Marcus* You stupid boy.

This was lovely and sad. I'm glad I know there was a happy ending. XD

Marcus the Universe is telling you to go to Harlan!

Eeee! I'm so happy you broke your rule and with these boys, they are awesome, and you are awesome. That was so bittersweet, since it was so sad and Marcus is so stupid and lonely, and adorable in an oversized coat. But I know they finally get back together in this universe so I feel okay about it, even if I want to throttle Marcus for wasting so much time.

Thanks. Of my many fandoms, this is the only one I genuinely miss writing. Poor, stupid Marcus. I should probably attempt to work on my novel, though. I haven't written anything at all today.

Of course, the comm is open to everyone on my friends list. I figure if I'm accountable to others maybe I'll write something, and if it works for other people too, then great.

You're right about the addiction component of fic; I had to go cold turkey for a few months. But I figured a little Harlan/Marcus wouldn't hurt anything. And there's that whole six years of missing history that sort of fascinates me in a morbid way. Of course Marcus' story is the only interesting part of that six years, because Harlan mostly spent the time working too much and having sex with guys he didn't care about. Aww.

Marcus, take the Great Big Sodding Hint :-) Seriously, Caroline, I love how you paint this picture of Marcus. Even knowing that it comes right in the end, I feel for the guy.
