Hi all! I don't think I know anyone but
carolinecrane here so I'm glad to me some new people!
So yeah. Intro. I write all the damn time. I tend to have problems finishing long things, which is a complete 180 from how I used to write years ago. I was never good at short!fic, but now it's harder to plow through novel-length writing. I blame this on RPing. My writing changed dramatically when I started role-playing 4-5 years ago, but at the same time, it's made me that much better at developing well-fleshed characters. That is a constant source of praise I get: my characters are believable, and people can identify with/really like them.
I have several ideas for several novels. The first caters to my short-fic needs. It's a retelling of classic fairy tales with a gay twist: the heroine/princess/ingenue is replaced by a young man. Some tales will be easily recognizable, some might be a bit more difficult to place.
However, I need to get back to writing longer pieces, because my usual genre, and where my next big novel will come from, is male/male fantasy. I have a particular story I'm writing called Sword and Blood about a half-elf and a human, neither of who could ever be considered the good guys. And they're the focus characters. I thought it might be an interesting twist to have the villains be the main characters and see how well people still identify with them. I don't post much of Sword and Blood, but I might be able to do it here, at least to get a feel from you guys. I definitely need feedback from people who don't already know the characters well.
Also, I have a writing journal over on
Scribblit. [I'm a beta tester/early contributor].
So this got way longer than intended and thus I shall bugger off. I'll try to post something here this weekend. =D
