Got up bright and squirrelly and went to school for the first time in ages. My schedule rocks. Twenty credits (which is to say, 20) transferred from SDSU, so of the six general education classes the state of Minnesota requires, I only have to take two, and neither of them this term. Which means my school day doesn't start until noon.
Which is awesome, sort of.
Allegiances are being formed while I'm waiting to go to class. This could turn into an issue later on. But for now, it's all good, baby.
At least it was until I got to class. First class, Fundamentals of Cooking and Sanitation. Four and a half hours of sitting on a wooden stool and hearing all about microbes and toxins from a guy who can't pronounce them and watching his powerpoint presentation that wasn't synced up with what's in the book.
This class is three weeks long. I suspect it's there to weed out the ones who don't actually belong there.
Class was peppered with the occasional trip to another part of the school to get our supplies, including shoes - they didn't have steel toed in my size - uniforms which will require washing tonight, and books. Books, which I do firmly believe weigh no less than fifty pounds. When I slung on my fully loaded backpack the weight almost pulled me over. No wonder high school kids are having back problems.
So, now I have a couple loads of wash to do tonight and homework due tomorrow. It can safely be said that I am no longer nervous about school.
