The Good, the Bad, and the Hopefully-Not-So-Ugly

Actually, I'll start with the bad: I won't drag this out, because I know a lot of other people are in the same boat, but boy, does it SUCK to be out of work this time of year. :( Actually, it sucks to be out of work any time of year, but it's really going to be painful when the Christmas bills start rolling in...

And it's frustating to fill out applications--for posted jobs, mind you--only to check on them a few days later and discover they haven't even been opened/reviewed yet. I know companies are getting in hundreds of applications what with the economy/umemployment situation being what it is, but it's painful to think yours is getting tossed without even being looked at.

Okay, that's enough of that. On the good side, I'm trying to use the time (when I'm not job-hunting) to finish writing and costuming stuff. Next weekend I'm going to a small con in Williamsburg--MarsCon--to promote my book (I'm sharing an author's table there), perform with Luna-C, and just have fun wandering around in costume. Technically, I really shouldn't spend the money to do this, but hopefully I can get some good publicity for my book, and the con should count as a write-off. ;) I'm going to break out an old costuming favorite, the ball gown from my favorite film "Labyrinth," and my friend Cricket is going to premiere a "Labyrinth"-inspired gown of her own. I'll be curious to see how many people may recognize/remember the movie!
