Yes, Dean, you are. *dirty thoughts*
A very enjoyable ep. And I love how the tone of the show can be so light one week (last week’s ep.) and then seamlessly shift back into this darker place like this week’s ep. And yet, it doesn’t ruin the flow of the show. *applauds Kripke and Co.*
Some stuff:
- I totally did NOT realize Deacon was their ally. I suspected from the start that the boys had allowed themselves to get caught - a fact confirmed for me first by Sam’s reluctance, and then by Henriksen pointing out their ‘rookie mistake’ - but having someone on the inside? Nope, that was a neat twist. Although I wonder why they didn’t make more use of him. Why rely on salt from the cafeteria and lighter fluid from inmates, when Deacon could’ve just gotten those things for them? Heck, why did they need to get caught and sent there at all? Deacon got them out pretty easily - couldn’t he have gotten them in just as easily (then again, the whole ep. would of course have had much less tension)? So there’s some loopholes for me, although they didn’t bother me much.
- “I’m velvety smooth!” Yes, yes you are, Dean. Man, I’ve got such a crush on him lately…John better come back quick, or he’s going to be supplanted as number one in my fangirl affections. ;)
- “Don’t worry, Sammy, I won’t trade you for smokes.” Hee.
- The card game for cigarettes? Classic Dean. He’s got to hustle his way to the top of the food chain wherever he goes, heheh.
- The “You from Texas all of a sudden?” was also amusing, because aren’t JA and JP BOTH from Texas IRL? ;)
- And I loved all the unexpected little touches. Tiny unexpectedly opening up to Dean about why he had low self-esteem. Henriksen’s partner parroting everything he said. And of course, the continuity - the reference back to Linda Blair’s character, for example. And I love Dean’s loyalty, how he’s so willing to do what’s right for people who are friends of the family or of John. And how John keeps coming up, even in absentia. “Your Daddy raised you right.”
- I also knew right away that the PD told them the wrong cemetery. Clearly, if she’d sent them to the correct one, Dean and Sam would’ve gotten caught again, and I knew that wouldn’t happen. Although I agree with vanillafluffy, lying to the FBI? Baaaad. I don’t get why she couldn’t claim attorney-client privilege, Sam’s assertions to the contrary.
- My sole real disappointment? No half-naked shower scenes! They cheated us out of Dean-in-action last week, after all… *pouts*
I am SO pumped for next week’s ep. Too bad a certain character I love isn’t in it (and too bad there’s only 3 eps. left), but I can deal.
