a weekend. two days in a row, away from work and the brilliant little minds that occasionally manage to get my last nerve.
family. a clean bedroom. bangladeshi deliciousness delivered anytime in the magical city that is hamtramck.
tonight:
I'm strutting in the perfect 50s pin-up girl outfit, tripping down Prentiss until I see the familiar glowing sign on Second. The bar is so dark I can barely make out my friends laughing under a cloud of smoke in the corner. My favorite puppy jumps up to greet me, and I thank the goddess for dark dirty bars that welcome dykes and their dogs. Conversation comes easy over whiskey, the ashtray fills to overflowing, and everyone sings along to the familiar songs spilling out of the jukebox. Summer is a secret that the breeze blowing through the open door of the Bronx is having trouble keeping, and I'm falling in love with my city all over again.
