Lost 6x17-18 Series Finale
(Finally!) some thoughts on The End
OMG IT'S FINALLY OVER :( And I loved it! It wasn't perfect and it didn't answer anything but I thought it was brilliant. Before the episode started I decided that the only thing I wanted answered was what the light was but during th Jin/Sun flashes all I wanted was for everyone to be happy! Also, one of my biggest fears for this episode was that it would finish and I would go AAAAARGHHHHHHHHH! I hate when things are left open ended but I don't think the characters could get a more wrapped up ending (obviously lol.) Here we go!
-The opening montage was so lovely. They used the music form LA X again and I was tearing up already! I loved the contrast between purgatory Ben making tea and island Ben loading a gun.
-I laughed when the delivery guy asked Desmond "Are you a priest or something?" Des: "Or something." Haha the way he said it. Kate's "Christian Shepard, really?" was also hilarious. And throughout this episode whenever someone said they were leaving I thought they meant the island or I was yelling "GO WHERE??!"
-This ep had quite a lot of funny lines actually which I wasn't expecting. The next scene had;
"Well Doc, how about you come down off the mountaintop and tell us what the hell the burning bush had to say for itself?" (My fave)
"That's kinda true, dude. He's worse than Yoda."
and Sawyer getting the magic leprechaun out of the well. I was so worried for Sawyer when he went off on his own too.
-Aw, Hurley seeing Charlie was so cute, his smile was adorable. They were a sweet friendship back in the day.
-Ah, it wouldn't be a proper Lost episode without Ben getting punched in the face and yay Sawyer got out of there safe. And the best part of this scene was....THE RETURN OF ROSE, BERNARD AND VINCENT! I was worried about these three and I'm glad we saw them again before the end. Flocke was so mean too, "I'll make it hurt" You can't threaten the cutest older couple ever! Rose was all brave too defending Desmond.
-Yay for Ben being good (well, good by Ben standards) And an even bigger yay for Richard being alive!!!! I cheered.
-And with Jin and Sun we have...Juliet! Aw, Sun remembering getting the scan along with the No Place Like Home music had me going but when they both remember their reunions, Jin stroking Sun's tummy, the freighter explosion and their deaths I was proper crying. Aw and Jin's face after he remembered and calling the baby Ji Yeon :') Episode Cry Tally: 1
-Richard has a gray hair! First I was scared that he was going age really fast like that guy from Indiana Jones, but it was a nice wrap up for his character. Also, Miles was being awfully touchy feely and cute with Richard - ahem,..

-And to make things eve more awesome...Frank "Chesty" Lapidus! Even though I knew he wasn't dead this was still an awesome surprise. Mainly because I thought the time travelling Losties from last season were going to arrive and have the outrigger shootout but Frank was a much better surprise. Then he delivered the line which deserves major sparkles,

-Kate being badass! So the bullets didn't do anything of course but I liked that she's so angry over Sayid, Jin and Sun. Badass Jack being all "I'm gonna kill you..That's a surprise" was also cool.
-Juliet's the mother! Obvious but I can't complain.
-At first, I found Jack, Desmond and Flocke all together at the light weird considering he wanted them all dead but it didn't bother me so much the second time I watched it. Des telling Jack that none of it mattered worried me because I thought the island time line was not going to be important which would have annoyed me greatly lol.
-Aw, Hurley telling Sayid that he's a good guy and he's heard people telling him he's bad so many times that he started to believe it :( Even in the afterlife, after sacrificing himself, Sayid still gave himself a hard time. Shannon and Sayid! I was indifferent towards this pairing back in the day but this took my Episode Cry Tally to two. And Boone was being all cute. (I wonder how he remembered?)
-Ahh when Frank, Richard and Miles (Team Chesty, Sexy, Cool?) arrived on Hydra and Claire started shooting at them I was seriously scared for Richard's life. Especially when he started walking towards her, omg. Also, turning Richard down? Girl must be crazy :P
-"You're not John Locke. You disrespect his memory by wearing his face" Burrrrrrn. Way to become likable to me in the last episode, Jack. Nice call back to Exodus when they did the same shot of Jack and Locke looking down too.
-Charlotte! She looks super pretty when she's all done up. Lol at the sign on Charlie "Bass player. Wake me up for show" Hahaha. Faraday and Charlotte! I didn't mind that they remember together because now they can have the romance they didn't get to have on the island.
-I wanted to hear You All Everybody :( But I will settle for the way that Charlie was looking at Claire when he saw in the crowd, aww.
-Oh inside the cave was weird. A big rock plug? And when the water drained away that looked awfully like a volcano underneath it. Desmond's nose bleeding nooooo! But yay for Flocke being mortal now.
-Eloise and her huge hair returns! But it was sweet that she wanted Des to stop meddling so she could spend time that she never had with Faraday. How did she know everything in any timeline?
-Kate helping Claire give birth to Aaron - Episode Cry Tally: 3. And to make it even worse we have Charlie coming into it! His face when he said "It's only a blanket" with the little tear was just the start as the Charlie/Claire/Aaron flashes absolutely killed me lol. Imaginary peanut butter! This was the remembering scene that I cried the most at. Episode Cry Tally: 4.
-The island's crumbling! Ben saving Hurley from the tree was wonderful as was everyone trying to safe him. Although I was very worried that this was going to be his redemptive death.
And now for the most badass scene from the episode. A crumbling island, pouring rain and Jack yelling LOOOOOCKE combined with sprinting down a cliff and awesome flying punch!
Amazing way to end the first episode.
-The fight was really cool and well done and I screamed when Locke stabbed him in the side. And explanation for the sideways, bleedy neck! Then Kate saves the day, "I saved you a bullet" Awesome. And Flocke is dead!
-Locke remembering scene was also really well done and had lots of S1 clips (teaching Walt to throw knives, aww) which made it even better. Episode Cry Tally: 5
So cute when Sawyer visited Sun and Jin at the hospital, Jin's smile was adorable. Especially when Jin said "Detective" like he was tickled at Sawyer being a policeman lol.
-Aw, the splitting up scene. I'm glad that Sawyer and Jack had a moment but Sawyer didn't even get to say goodbye to Hurley :( Ben saying he was going down with the island was brill. Kate asking Jack if she was going to see him again, the kiss and Jack's "I love you had me off again. Well done Lost for making me cry at a ship I don't even like! The look on Jack's face and the way he said I love you made it clear that no-one loved Kate as much as Jack did. Episode Cry Tally: 6.
-Team CSC balanced on the plane and Richard and Miles underneath the plane had me seriously worrying. I'm so proud that these three survived, I thought they were goners for sure. Also, "I don't believe in a lot of things, but I do believe in duct tape" lol amazing line. Very tense when Kate and Sawyer not having much time to get there too.
-Suliet scene :') They were being super cute before they flashed but when they did remember, especially Juliet falling slightly when she remembered falling down the hole, tears everywhere. Cry Tally: 7. "Juliet. Juliet, it's me!" Oh dear.
-So Jack's son must have been a creation of Jack's mind to deal with his Daddy issues, poor David :( Lol Jack was so stubborn with his remembering. Kate saying "I've missed you so much" didn't affect me much the first time I watched but afterwards I realised that Kate wouldn't have seen him for years and years. You know she lived until she was like 100, she only shot in the shoulder all the time she was on the island lol.
-Oh no Hurley being upset :( When he realizes that Jack's going to die and Jack realizes he was only supposed to be the new Jacob so he could sacrifice himself..Cry Tally: 8. It was even worse when they made the deal that he'd give the island back to Jack even thought they both knew that wasn't going to happen. I love Hurley as the new Jacob though.
-Desmond's alive! I love Des but I'd sort of forgotten about him at the bottom of the cave with all the drama going on but I nearly peed when I thought Jack found him dead. And yay for Jack telling him to go home to Penny and Charlie. "What about you, Jack?" "I'll see you in another life, brother." Awww.
-Aah Sawyer and Kate running towards the moving plane and stopping to persuade Claire nearly gave me a heartattack! When Sawyer was yelling through the walkie talkey but no-one could hear it I thought it might leave without them. Thankfully they made it just in time. But then I spied a huge crack in the ground just underneath the plane so I started worrying again and maybe the plane wouldn't take off but it did! I loved everyone's relieved faces as the plane took off and Kate holding Claire's hand and they played the raft music from Series 1. Also, imagining what it must have been like for Sawyer and Claire, whose last time on a plane was 815 three years ago, and for Richard who now has to live a normal life after hundred and odd years on the island. Cry Tally: 9. Frank is the best pilot ever.
-To add my nervous attacks the light took it's sweet time coming back on! I was scared that Jack would die down there burning to death but yay he did his job.
-So glad we got a final Ben/Locke scene. Ben admitting that he killed Locke because he was special, confirmation that Locke was indeed special :) Lovely that Locke accepted his apology and ben's line, "Thank you, John. That does help. It matters more than I can say" Got me teary but I was ok until Locke got out of his wheelchair and started walking. Cry Tally: 10
-Aw dear Hurley not knowing what to do as the new Jacob and Ben's response of, "You do what you do best. Take care of people” :') This is why Hurley is the best candidate for the job, he's the most pure at heart and always looks after others. I love that Ben told Hurley he can run things in a better way then Jacob did. Jacob spent his time trying to prove his brother wrong and playing games with people as a result but Hurley will run things a much kinder way. And to make this even sweeter Hurley asks Ben to be his Richard! The look on Ben's face said it all. All he ever needed was to be of some importance and to be wanted. Cry Tally: 11. I bet they had amazing times as island leaders

-Then cut to sideways Ben and Hurley and when they said "You were a great number one/two" I started to guess that they maybe this was after they had died but I wasn't sure if I had heard it correctly lol. And I like that Ben wasn't ready to leave which means he can spend time with Alex.
-Ooh here we go the church scene. I liked the stain glass window with all the different religious symbols on it. Jack's flashes were really cool as there were so many of them and involved a lot of characters. Cry Tally: 12. And the coffin is empty which was what I was expecting (either that or Jack looking at his own dead body lol). Christian! I'm glad he's the one who explained everything in the end. I loved this bit, "You died...Then how are you here?" "How are you here?" That moment when I realized that they were dead all along in the Sideways... major gasps and goosebumps. Christian had some really nice lines here, "The most important part of your life was the time that you spent with these people" and "Nobody does it alone, Jack"
-Now for the bit that really killed me, the church reunion with Jack's last moments. So many bits that made me cry, everyone hugging, seeing Penny with Desmond, Jack walking past Christian's shoe in the jungle from the Pilot, Hurley lifting Jack up off his feet, seeing Rose and Bernard and Kate smiling at Jack now that he's finally realized. And if that wasn't enough Vincent comes in, just like the Pilot, so Jack doesn't die alone. Jack's smile when he sees the plane overhead was perfect as he realized he died for a reason. Then his eye closes and thus ends a very teary episode and the whole series of Lost.
Phew! Sorry if that was too long and full of exclamation marks but there was a lot to talk about lol. I like speculating on what happened to them all afterwards. In my mind, Kate helped Claire get better and to raise Aaron, Sawyer keeps in touch with everyone and finds Juliet's sister to tell her what happened, Miles starts a business using his ghostbusting skills and uses the money to buy Richard a new identity, Richard has a classy job like an art buyer and becomes a silver fox and Frank retires from piloting and just chills, being awesome. Hurley and Ben run the island for hundreds of years and Hurley helps Michael and anyone else who can't move on. They visit Rose and Bernard for chats and choose the candidates to replace in much nicer manner. Super exciting news! Meanwhile in purgatory, Miles stays there for a while longer and helps his dad, Faraday and Charlotte to move on. Frank was too awesome to need purgatory and Richard didn't need one as he's been alive for so long. I'd like to think Ben helps some people through like Ana-Lucia too. Well that's it!
