Have you ever started something that you have come to deeply regret afterwards? Well, next time I have the brilliant idea to create an identification site for MLP Fakies, please shoot me. It is a disaster, and that is putting it kindly.
Whilst at first I was amused by finding fake versions of fake versions of fake versions of My Little Pony (yes, the copy behaviour of some brands is unbelieving), I wasn't so amused anymore when the same rip off ponies started to appear in different series of different brands. And yes, I do mean exactly the same ponies. How the hell can you then still identify an unpacked Fakie when it is being sold or shown in someone's collection? You have to say then: "Well this one can be a X Pony from brand Y. But it also appears as a D Pony from brand L. And guess what, it can also be pony H from brand G." I mean, come on! Where was the originality in creating Fakies? And then I am not speaking yet of the Fakies that got produced by different brands according to the countries they got sold in or how in different countries Fakie Ponies got sold under different serie names. It just feels like an inextricable tangle.
And it also means that I need to rethink how I want to make the ID page. Not by brand or serie anymore, like I had started to do, but more in the line of chosing body color or the pony symbol and then scroling through all the pictures and finding the one you want to identify. This means however much more work cause this means having from each and every Pony a single shot to put up. Not that I am at creating this new ID site already. I am first uploading, whilst trying to sort out, all my pictures of Fakies I have gathered over the years. And for that I have created a special Pinterest account that solely focusses on MLP Fakies. Because putting all those pictures on my regular Pinterest account under one board was just becoming too much of a rubble. So forget the link in the previous post if you are interested in MLP Fakies and just head here now instead:
