Evil temptresses…
The two girls talking to Shusei felt shivers run down their spine. Ever since they had stopped senpai Usui to talk to him concerning some student council business, they had the uneasy feeling that someone was watching them. Delicate glances thrown over their shoulder, whenever senpai Usui’s attention seemed to have been on something else, hadn’t however resulted in spotting anyone. The space behind them was just … empty. Clearly it was all in their head. Nothing but their own imagination running wild with them. Finally they had been able to approach their idol without the rude blond of a Renjou barreling into the conversation and throwing daggers at them with his glares, and so they probably were just still expecting him to pop up out of the woodwork despite knowing that the blond was on sick leave and for once wouldn’t come and cut their time with senpai Usui short or prevent their attempt at asking senpai Usui out.
“That should do it.” Shusei gave a final glance over the paper in his hand after which he held it back out to the girls with a gentle smile.
For a second both girls were frozen in their spot, seeing a brilliant light shining down on their senpai and some heavenly tune rise up and fill their ears. The black-haired girl however quickly snapped out of the day dream and reached out to accept the paper much to her friend’s dismay who saw her chance slip through her fingers.
The black-haired girl smiled back at Shusei and accepted the paper, making sure she reached for the piece of paper in such a manner that her own hand would brush over the hand of the brown-haired God in front of her. Right before her fingers however were able to make contact with senpai Usui’s hand, a terrifying war cry sounded from her left. Bushes rustled and an orange shadow leaped out of them, sunlight glistening on sharp claws.
The black-haired girl released a terrified girlish scream and stumbled a step backwards. The completely forgotten paper drifted innocently to the ground whilst the girl stared wide eyed at the orange threat that was on a collision course with her face and would be impossible for her to avoid. Right before the orange menace was able to come and cling to her face, the momentum of the orange danger however was stopped.
With wide open, scared eyes the two girls stared at their senpai who yanked the orange bristling cat away from them, their senpai having snatched the cat by the neck during its leap towards them. An icy-chill smile came to play around senpai Usui’s mouth as he addressed both girls, the menacing sensation behind the smile lost on them but not on the angry growling orange cat in Shusei’s arms whom immediately calmed down and gulped, realizing he was in some deep trouble. The girls were perhaps oblivious, but Hotsuma knew that a smile from Shusei wasn’t always a smile.
“Forgive me,” Shusei spoke politely to the girls. “I hope he didn’t scare you too much.”
The girls swallowed and started to stutter, not really knowing how to respond anymore. They had always believed that loudmouth of a Renjou to be a menace but the blond clearly didn’t hold a candle to this cat.
“Euh, no. No,” the brown-haired girl finally managed to utter. “Is he …” she swallowed nervously as she glanced at the now calm orange cat in senpai Usui’s arms even though the golden-orange eyes immediately started to spit fire anew when the cat sensed her gaze on him. “Is he yours?” she braved finally.
Shusei’s terrifying smile turned up a few more notches, his grip on Hotsuma’s neck skin tightening. “No. Just a stray I fear. And clearly in need of fixing.”
Hotsuma’s orange-golden cat eyes widened in disbelief. Surely Shusei couldn’t be meaning what he had just said?
The grip in Hotsuma’s neck tightened even more. “And I’ll go and get that taken care off straight away. Excuse me.” Shusei gave the girls a final apologetic smile before he walked off and even though Hotsuma felt like he should be celebrating cause he had managed to get his partner away from those evil temptresses who didn’t know how to stay away from people who weren’t theirs, all he could feel was dread as Shusei’s last smile to the girls hadn’t spoken of many good things for him.
