Oklahoma Vacatation 2008

*sniiiiiiiiiiiiiif* Ahhhhh....

After 12 glorious days in Oklahoma, Johnny & I are back to the doldrums of Dayton.

The driving trip to & from were fairly uneventful & we made good time both ways. As my family has a new house with lots of space, we decided to forgo staying at a hotel & slept on an air mattress in my brother's spacious room. The air mattress took some getting used to, but once you get it aired up just right it's quite comfy.

This was our longest vacation with my family so far & it was nice to have so much down time, but we did find time to do a few things here & there.

The first day we all went to see The Dark Knight. A quite awesome movie, I must say & Heath Ledgers last performance does not disappoint. I was never a huge fan of many of his movies, we was just kinda there as an actor to me. But I loved his performance as the Joker...especially in a particular scene where he is exiting a hospital. XD And is it just me or does the guy who plays Harvey Dent totally look like Denis Leary? :o I know it's not, but I'm just sayin'...

We also went to the Oklahoma Aquarium with my family & Johnny had never been. Because there was a good amount of people visiting & we all have different tastes we mostly split up to view the feeshees. My brother & I went off in one direction as we generally are in a similar opinion & we can make funny comments to each other. :3 We found Johnny later who was having a field day with our new SLR camera. My favorite part of the aquarium was an open tank of small/young sting rays. I think they look so cool anyway & these guys would come out of the water & splash back down or even jump up the sides of their tank sending a wave of water over the side on their descent getting unsuspecting onlookers wet. For a fee you can also feed these little guys, so I payed my $3 bucks & stuck shrimp on the end of a little plastic pole & stuck it in the water. It's so neat to watch them all swim by & then suddenly you feel a tug, hear a suction & the shrimp is gone! X3

My mom, aunt & I all went out for a girl day too. We went to the nail salon where they regularly get their nails done for manicures & pedicures. I've never had a pedi done before & I now believe that it is a $35 I must spend monthly. Seriously. I sat in that massaging chair, dipped my feet into that mini foot hot tub & said "Now I'm on vacation." For my toes I got a line of pink along the top of the nail with white polka dots & on each big toe I have two flowers with a rhinestone in their center. My nails, I just got a simple French manicure. After we went to the Boomerang Cafe for lunch. Talequah had one that my friends & I ate at several times so I was quite happy they put one in Sapulpa. The downtown area definitely needs more restaurants! Despite the heat we walked around to a couple shops including the Hallmark store where I picked up the newest Jack Sparrow xmas ornament & we found this little pastry shop that boasted "the best cheesecake." I wasn't that impressed but it was still pretty damn good. The the three of us topped of our Girl Day by going to see Mamma Mia. Which was just a really fun movie.

My brother, Johnny & I also ventured to Oklahoma City to meet up with Miranda since I hadn't seen her since last year either. We met up in our usual meeting place...the parking lot of the big ass Bass Pro Shop in Bricktown. We ate lunch at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grille. The food was really good. I got a Chicken Fried Steak with gravy...this thing was bigger than my head. Johnny & Andrew got these chicken sandwiches that were quite intense & Miranda got this huge rack of ribs. WE NOMED IT ALL!! I, for some magical reason did not take pictures of the place except for a couple of us outside. But I did see a saddle shaped disco ball in there. After lunch we split up, Miranda & I went one way. Johnny & Andrew went another with the agreement to meet up in a couple hours. Miranda & I hit up a couple stores & I helped her pick out some school supplies for her 2nd grade class this year. We suddenly decided to hit up the Cheesecake Factory as I had never eaten their cheesecake. I don't know if it's worth $8 a slice, but it's pretty damn good. We met with my Johnny & my brother to go on our venture to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. They currently have Roman art from the Louvre which I was quite excited about. We breezed our way thru concentrating on some of the larger pieces or of more well known figures & also visited the other galleries in the museum. If we hadn't been so tired by that point I would have go out to the car to get the camera (we couldn't take it in to the Roman art) cause the optical illusion art & glass works of Dale Chihuly (however those are a permanent installation so we can see those again) were very awesome & photo friendly. After this we decided to head home...also none of the Victoria's Secret stores had the in-store only OU blanket I so wanted to get. Meh well. >_>

A couple days Johnny, my brother & I ventured into the heat to run around Tulsa a bit & see what it has to offer. And a few other nights my entire family played games like Monopoly & Trivial Pursuit.

Overall just a very enjoyable vacation. Johnny & I got back around 1am last night & we have today & tomorrow off. But we have a wedding to go to tomorrow. XP I do have to stop by work to check my schedule to see if I actually do work on Sunday.

oklahoma, fun times, travel, family, going out, friends
