i study history
classics
social history
and i've noticed a pattern
or i have been told a pattern by my professors
over and over again
that only when i society is at peace
will they flourish
5thc. Athens
Augustan society
and all those inbetween moments of peace a prosperity
and now what battles are we fighting
a losing war with the middle east
a battle against global warming
we have started both of these
and now we can't seem to finish them
can see to pull ourselves together
to accomplish something for the greater good
i feel disconnected
because my whole life
all i have had is privilege
and now you tell me it could all be taken away
i listen to al gore talk about global warming
i watch as the computer simulation program floods new york
but i don't actually understand
because in my head i say okay
well i live in canada
i live in a 1st world country
i'm fine...i'll be fine
how many people say this how many people don't go out of their way to recycle
to help just a little bit
because in the back of their minds they are saying the same thing as me

this has no point
i'm just thinking...
and sometimes it just need some place to go....
