Firstly:
Rachel passed the licensing exam and is now officially a Registered Nurse! So happy and proud of her. She starts her job on July 6. She and her boyfriend Charles are taking a trip to Maine -- they leave on Sunday. Charles's band is playing in Boston on July 4, so it's nice they could take a few days to enjoy while in that part of the country.
I'll be at the beach (in Maryland, not in Maine like Rachel and Charles..) July 2 to the 6th. I grew up going to Ocean City every summer (my parents owned a house there for a long time. My mom had to sell it a few years after my dad passed away, but my siblings and I have wonderful memories of that house). My sister Kathy and her husband Bob bought a condo in Ocean City last summer, so that's where I'll be staying.

Nothing else going on. Work is good. Just busy. I've been so lucky my entire working life that I've worked with wonderful people. They are all thrilled for Rachel, too, they had to listen to me go on and on about her entire nursing school experience! Work friends are a special sort of people.

I don't buy DVD's (although I should say Blu Ray, since that's what I'm buying these days) like I used to. But recently I bought the movies 'Serena' and 'American Sniper.' Yes, because of Bradley Cooper. I have SO MANY of his films (and one tv series) on DVD/blu ray. Serena was one of those 'blink and you'll miss it' films in the cinema. I certainly missed it...it never played anywhere remotely near me. It was good, BC and Jennifer Lawrence play a married couple running a timber company in North Carolina in 1930. The government wants the land to turn into a National Park. I did see 'American Sniper' at the cinema. Funny, Rachel told me she was trying to get Charles to watch it with her but she said he said no because it's "right wing propaganda spinned to tug at our patriotic heartstrings." LOL. Charles DOES have *very* strong political opinions. Plus he just isn't much into tv and movies. Rachel said as much and that it 'sucks because I am definitely a movie and TV buff to say the least!" I replied by saying, "Gee, I wonder where you get that from!"

TV?
Ripper Street season three is complete. It sure looks like they sent off Matthew Macfadyen. I don't know if he'll be back for season four or not. But that's okay, his character, while great, was never my favorite. That honor belongs to Jerome Flynn's portrayal of Bennett Drake...
I watched all of the Netflix series "Sense8." Not a bad show at all. I hope it comes back. I want to know more about how these 'clusters' work. How many clusters are there? Why do the Whispers want to destroy them? Is Jonas working on both sides? (It sure seemed that way to me).
There are WAY too many good shows on Sunday nights. I can't possibly watch them all. I don't want to spend all my non working hours watching tv shows!
I did tune into the first episode of Poldark this week. Only for Aiden Turner, but I did really enjoy the show. Poldark is a British soldier who fought in the American Revolution, and comes home to find that his father passed away and left the homestead in shambles; and his sweetheart is now engaged to his cousin. I want Ross to show his uncle he *can* make the ramshackle homestead he inherited come back to life. And I'm sure he'll fall in love again, too.
I also watched the season two premiere of True Detective. I liked it right away due to the use of the legendary Leonard Cohen's song "Nevermind" as the theme during the opening credits. I was truly impressed with Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughan's performances. It got a little draggy in the middle of the episode but at the end when they tied all the characters together (including Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch) I was sold.
And Penny Dreadful has been AMAZING this season. I am in awe of Rory Kinnear's performance as John Clare aka "The Creature." He commands every scene he is in. Although the scene with him and Billie Piper this week? Totally blew me away!! She was incredible. We knew what was going to happen with her character at the end of last season, but 'Lily' has certainly evolved to a degree I didn't expect as season two has progressed. And so sad about Angelique!! And we finally saw the portrait of Dorian Grey. Oh, can't forget about Sir Malcolm! Poor guy! He needs to get released from Evelyn's clutches!
And that's all the tv I'll watch this week. I LOVE having a tv break! Been doing more reading instead... Although the writing thing has been ignored. I wish I could stay focused on that!!
