So every once and a while, I like to turn on VH-1. I have to admit that Celebrity Fit Club, Celeb Rehab, and Mission: Man-Band are guilty pleasures of mine. On the rare occasion that they actually play a video, I don't always watch but listen instead. Recently, I have become obsessed with the new John Mayer song "Say" from that movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman and Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love". The videos aren't that great, but the songs are just two that have really stuck with me. I ended up listening to all of Leona Lewis' album Spirit, and she sounds like old-school Mariah Carey, like back in the early 90s when she wasn't insane or a whore...like "I Don't Wanna Cry" era. Her voice is so beautiful.
Then I learn that she is one of Simon Cowell's Idols from the British version of American Idol. That kinda ruined her for me a bit, but she's still a very good singer. The video is a little strange, though. I think it is so sad that these women with beautiful voices have to waste so much time bumping and grinding with walls while they are singing. JUST SING, especially if you have the gift of an awesome voice. Don't cancel out God's gift for you by singing half- naked or humping some pillow on a random bed.
Okay, rant over. :)
