In Definition, four emerging artists look to their artwork to help identify or to resist identity within their practice. Designer Natalie Olsen presents collage drawings, painter/printmaker Eric Burton explores the immediate emotional impact of painting versus the subtle emotiveness of the printmaking process. Ashley Markus shows a small retrospective suite of art and craft, and painter Josée Ouellette presents three-dimensional figure-vessels that abstractly personify the art object.
The artists represented were part of the 2006 Works to Work summer internship program. Works to Work offers returning students in the field of art and design a learn-work opportunity to help produce the annual Works Art & Design Festival while developing skills in either exhibit production or curatorial practice.
