Battlestar Galactica broke my DVR

Nov 24, 2007 22:15

I was anxiously awaiting the start of Razor and I saw the little record light blink on the DVR and then my screen went black and the sound went off. I flipped the channels up and down and every channel worked fine except for Sci-Fi. *enters freak out mode* It took me three times resetting the DVR to get it to come back on. So I missed about the first 3-4 minutes of it, hope it wasn't anything too important. I hit manual record in case I wanted to go back and review something afterward and I checked the recording after it was over and the whole thing is black, no show! And of course the DVR froze at that point. I've messed with it a bit and it freezes like that whenever it records or when you attempt to play back a recording. GRRRR. These particular DVR boxes are hunks of junk! I've already had one replaced, the one they brought didn't work so they had to go back for a third which is the one I've got now. I only hope I can get this one replaced before work on Monday or I'm going to end up downloading my Mon & Tues night shows. pffft stupid technology :/

Anyway, onto Razor. I really liked it, it was good. Very visual and violent and graphic. Very BSG. I loved some of the direction and camera shots, they really bring you into the scope of what's going on in the scenes. I also really like how it was presented with the flashbacks done as they were. It was very effective and always kept you hanging on for the next part of what was going on.

Admiral Cain... damn was she hard core or what? Like seeing her pull a Darth Vader on her XO, I mean we knew it happened but that was just so visual. Her character is so complex with so many different layers, it was kind of cool to see a couple of them. The Cain/Gina stuff was weird and unexpected though I suppose it makes sense from how bad Gina was tortured and the tension between them, especially when she shot Cain point blank in the head. It also makes sense that the Cylons had their human models stragetically placed throughout the fleet so why not on the Pegasus? I had just not thought of it before.

It was interesting that Adama got to see the experiments from the first Cylon war, though I thought there'd be more young Adama stuff. Does anyone know if the old guy in the tub was any of those he'd seen originally? I'm curious about who he is. I liked Adama's talk with Lee at the end and about how he had support and a conscious from the people around him. And I thought the guy who played Young Adama did a good job.

Ok now, you know I'm spoiler free on such matters but I want to know. What's up with Starbuck and the old guy telling Shaw she'll lead them to doom and all that. It really feeds the idea that she is a Cylon, but I don't quite think so in the traditional Cylon sense that we know. She's definitely connected to them, but I think if she is one, she's going to be some sort of hybrid. And I'm curious about her voyage to Earth and what really went on. The preview for season 4 looked soooooo good! And yay, it's March now! I wonder what scenes were left out and are on the "extended edition" DVD. Of course, I'll be buying it. I still haven't even bought season 2 because I hated the way it was split up and hoped for a box set instead of the 2.0/2.5 ones.

Things that made me giggle: The old school Cylons, hehe! And Lieutenant Hoshi, the communication officer of the Pegasus. Gotta love those Trek references ;P And of course the commercials and "brought to you by Quiznos. mmmm, toasty!" It amused me because of the mmmm, toasty and that Cylons are called "toasters" I know, it's silly but I cracked myself up with it. :P

Oh, and MU won the game 36-28! Awesome.
