So long and thanks for all the fish!

I don't really have any words to explain how I feel after the series finale, it's not because I can't find them but rather because they just aren't there. I feel blank about it all, after the episode I was like "oh...that was it" and that's just about pretty much it.

I had decided earlier today that I wasn't going to post some long drawn out rant or reflection on the show and I'm still not going to but I do want to put down a few thoughts about the finale. First, the whole thing was way too fast. Everything felt so rushed and hurrried and because of that I felt it distracted me from other things going on. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of the Asgard, and especially so quickly for the race that has been such an integral part of the show for so long. It's like "here our stuff, enjoy...gotta go!". I liked some of the scenes during the "aging" period, the song and cello music was a nice touch. Daniel and Vala were cute and I admit a sigh of relief that nothing went on between Sam and Cam. The aged versions of themselves looked odd and was also distracting. Not to mention that Teal'c, we all know Jaffa are long lived and all but after 50 years, he didn't look any different except for that skunk stripe on the side of his head. I think the thing that stuck out to me as the biggest loss was the absence of O'Neill. It just doesn't feel right ending the show without him. I know it's not really ending in a sense, but it still annoys me. There are other things I would have liked seen resolved but like I said, I'm not going into a rant about them. While I accepted the ending of it long ago, the true ending of the show for me was Moebius. Now that was an episode worthy of a series finale.

I will still look forward to the DVD movies that will be made and hope they can bring about more completeness that the series finale did and for that I am glad. I will always look back fondly on SG-1 as it will always be dear to me as all of my favorite shows are. So to SG-1 I say: So long and thanks for all the fish!

As for Atlantis, I found myself annoyed enough through the entire thing to not really enjoy it. Especially knowing what is in store for it's next season. The Lou Gossett Jr look-alike annoyed me with all his arrogance and beaming of people but I suppose that was probably the point. The sinking, rising and lift-off of the city were kind of cool and the explosion as the beam grazed the tower was pretty neat looking. I won't go into it any further as most everyone is probably aware of my thoughts on Atlantis's future so I shall not indulge.

That is all.

And I noticed they are making us sit through another Eureka episode to see the BSG preview, thank goodness for the 'net! :P
