It always seems like a backhanded compliment to say, "Normally I don't like this pairing but ..."
Nonetheless, it says a lot that this is the fic where surreallis makes me buy Sam/Jack as a viable relationship.

This is a lovely picture of a season 10 Sam who's found her feet and become much more comfortable in her own skin with Jack's absence from the SGC. And a Jack who's complicated, fiercely possessive of "his" team and Carter even when he knows he shouldn't be, emotionally-perceptive in his own cranky way, and aware of what his own defenses have cost him over the years even as he can't quite let go of them.
